Kiss Me General (original title: Martin Soldat) is a 1966 French comedy film directed by Michel Deville and starring Robert Hirsch, Véronique Vendell, Walter Rilla, Marlène Jobert and Anthony Sharp. An actor disguises himself as a soldier during the Second World War, but is mistaken for a soldier and becomes a war hero during the Allied Liberation of France in 1944.

Synopsis

Le jour du débarquement, Martin, acteur dans une troupe de théâtre sans prétention doit jouer le rôle d'un officier allemand dans une pièce mais il est arrêté par les Américains. Une fois la supercherie éclaircie, il entre au service de l'armée française mais se fait capturer, cette fois avec un uniforme « emprunté » à un officier français, par des soldats allemands.

The film follows Maxime Nathan and his Jewish family in France during the years leading up to World War II.
