Set in Miami, and shot at the Now Closed Moberly Studios in Hollywood Florida, the basic story centers around two criminals, Stanley (Wayne Crawford under the name Scott Lawrence) and Paul; played by Abe Zwick, who have been run out of Baltimore and have decided to lie low in a Miami suburb. They hatch a plan that involves Paul wearing wigs, women's blouses, skirts, and sensible shoes to pose as Stanley's "Aunt Martha."
A homosexual relationship ostensibly exists between Paul and Stanley, although it isn't explicitly demonstrated. Stanley is shown in the company of several girls. Aunt Martha is not heartened by them and forbids Stanley to see them. Stanley and Aunt Martha argue constantly with Martha expressing a great deal of dissatisfaction with Stanley's lifestyle. Stanley seems to have no real direction in his life beyond hallucinogenic drugs and becoming terrified and hysterical when "far out chicks" start unbuckling his pants. When he gets absurdly high
(usually by his drugged out friend Jerry played by Musician/Photographer/Actor Jessie Eastland aka Robert DeMeo), he tends to become violently agitated.

Max Cash is a down-on-his luck fisherman and charter boat captain living in the Bahamas when his life takes a turn when he meets Sarah Livingstone, a tourist who is seeking to find the treasure of accursed shipwreck, 'The El Diablo' which has been rumored to have sunk on an offshore reef near one of the many islands. The film starts with three poachers going into the woods to hunt. One of them sees what he thinks is a meteor land and goes to investigate. He finds a red glowing cave with a stash of large eggs. He decides to smash them, but is killed by an unseen entity before he can finish, which leaves one egg left intact. The mysterious being takes revenge for the destruction, first killing the other hunters and then going after members of a rock band led by Rick (Ian Sera), who are on a weekend camping trip. This band is accompanied by Laura, a girl who Rick met and told about the weekend's plans, not expecting her to want to come along. Sharon, a member of the band, is jealous of Laura, as she (Sharon) is Rick's girlfriend. Cathy and Tracy are also band members.

Paul Marnac (Paul Naschy) and his infirm wife Geneviève (Julia Saly) move to his childhood estate in the French countryside. The estate is also the site of the castle inhabited by Paul's ancestor Alaric de Marnac, who was known for brutally slaughtering anyone whom he suspected of infidelity. Six girls have been found murdered in the apartment of famed Russian occultist, Karl Raymarseivich Raymar, and police cannot explain it. When Raymar's body was lifted onto a stretcher, bolts of electricity shot out from his fingers. Not even his estranged daughter Olivia McKenna (Melissa Newman) or her husband Allan (Adam West) knows what happened until they meet Samuel Dockstader (Donald Hotton), a feature writer for "The World of the Occult". Dockstader, once a friend to Raymar, explains that Raymar was a psychic vampire who gained great powers of telekinesis by kidnapping young girls, terrorizing them, and feeding off the bioenergy they produced. Allan does not believe him, but Dockstader shows Olivia a set of photographs to demonstrate how bioenergy works and gives her an audiotape that outlines his findings, which convinces Olivia to believe him.
