Sur les traces de Bochart est un film documentaire québécois réalisé par le documentariste Pierre Saint-Yves et l'historien Yannick Gendron, et sorti en 2019 aux lendemains du lancement du livre L'énigme de Trois-Rivières. Il fait suite aux conclusions de Sur les traces de Laviolette.

Synopsis

Le documentaire fait état des des recherches des dix dernières années de l'historien Yannick Gendron sur l'identité du véritable fondateur de la ville de Trois-Rivières. Il met en lumière la vie et la carrière de Théodore Bochart du Plessis qu'il identifie comme l'un des principaux responsables de la fondation du fort de Trois-Rivières en 1634. Il retrace ses rencontres avec l’historien québécois Mathieu D’Avignon, le professeur Frank Lestringant de l’Université Paris-Sorbonne et l’historien français Mickaël Augeron.

Most of the film is taken up with a short play in which a young pilot, portrayed by Ronald Reagan, is ordered on reconnaissance missions of the Pacific and encounters another plane which he can't tell is friendly or not. This plot is interspersed with animated segments illustrating the physical characteristics of the Japanese Zero and how it can be distinguished from an American plane.

March 20, 2000, a decree by the President of the Republic of Cameroon set up an Operational Command Unit to tackle rampant banditry in the Douala region. The Unit introduced what amounted to round-ups: in one year, 1600 people disappeared or were killed. One year later, nine young men disappeared. The matter was submitted to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. The accused were found guilty of "failure to follow orders" and released but legal proceedings have not come to an end. The victims' families have to live between the desire for justice and the pressure for the crimes to be wiped out forever from the collective memory.
