Tezaab (Hindi: तेज़ाब, Urdu: تیزاب, translation: "Acid"), released on 11 November 1988, is an Indian Action romantic Hindi movie. The film gave actress Madhuri Dixit her first big break, making her an overnight star. It reaffirmed Anil Kapoor's star status, after a successful Mr India (1987).
The film was produced and directed by N. Chandra. The music is by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Tezaab is known for the song "Ek Do Teen," which was a chart success. It ran in theatres for more than 50 weeks becoming a golden jubilee, and it was the highest blockbuster at the box office for the year 1988 in Bollywood. With Tezaab, N Chandra scored a box office hat-trick with his previous hits Ankush (1986) and Pratighaat (1987).
Tezaab was critically acclaimed and garnered four Filmfare Awards from twelve nominations. Anil Kapoor won his first Best Actor award and Madhuri Dixit garnered her first ever nomination for Best Actress at Filmfare.
The film was remade in Telugu as Two Town Rowdy with Daggubati Venkatesh. The plot is loosely based on the commercially failed Hollywood movie Streets of Fire (1984) directed by Walter Hill.
Synopsis
Inspector Gagan Singh gets a tip about an infamous Tadipar (exiled criminal) "Munna", entering his jurisdiction, so he checks Munna's file. Singh is shocked to find that Munna is none other than NCC Cadet Mahesh Deshmukh, an aspiring officer, whom he had met years ago in a bank. In front of the eyes of Singh and Mahesh, a robbery took place and Mahesh's parents were killed. Singh never got to know what happened to Mahesh.Actors

The story revolves around two brothers, Kishen (Jackie Shroff) and Karan (Anil Kapoor), who have spent their childhood growing up alone on the streets of Mumbai. In order for Karan to have a better upbringing and education, Kishen joins Anna Seth (Nana Patekar). Anna owns an oil factory, but that's a mere prop to cover up his dealings within the underworld. Karan is unaware of the fact that his brother is working for a gang. Inspector Prakash (Anupam Kher), Karan's best friend, is aware of Anna's gang activities and wants to bring him to justice. Anna knows that Karan and Prakash are best friends, so he sets up the murder of Prakash when Prakash and Karan are supposed to meet after Karan's arrival from America. Karan witnesses the murder of his friend Prakash, who dies in his arms.

Durgeshwari Devi (Hema Malini) is a very rich and proud lady. She stays in her palace-like home with her two sons Dheeraj and Neeraj, her daughter Rekha (Madhuri Dixit), her brother, nicknamed DDT (Anupam Kher), and his close friend, nicknamed BBC (Satish Kaushik) along with her personal secretary, Shakti. Rekha studies in a medical college in Bombay. Durgeshwari Devi has full control over her home and company and is feared by all. Her ambitions of wedding Rekha in a rich family like hers seem to fail when Rekha falls in love with Raja (Anil Kapoor). Raja is an unemployed, poor but smart and educated man. Durgeshwari seeing him to be a smart fellow puts a condition for agreeing to the marriage which would humiliate him and thus back out. She asks Raja to live with them after the marriage and not other way round where the bride goes to live at groom's home.

Beta is the story of Raju (Anil Kapoor), the only child of a widowed multi-millionaire father who can provide his son with anything he wants except Raju's only desire—a mother's love. After saving the life of his employer, Jagjit Singh alias JJ (Anupam Kher), Harikishan (Anil Kapoor) is promoted with a wage increase that he had only dreamt of.
