The Dead End (Chinese: 烈日灼心) is a 2015 Chinese crime-drama film based on Xu Yigua's novel Sunspot (Chinese: 太阳黑子). The film is directed by Cao Baoping, starring Deng Chao, Duan Yihong, Guo Tao, and Wang Luodan. The film was released on August 27, 2015.

Synopsis

Seven years after the events of the Water Chamber Murders, newly transferred officer Yi Guchun began to suspect that his assistant police, Xin Xiaofeng, is deeply-tied with the murders.

Li Mi est une jeune chauffeur de taxi à Kunming. Depuis 4 ans, elle est à la recherche de son amour perdu, Fang Wen, qui parti sans laisser de trace, continue de lui envoyer des lettres sans jamais laisser d'adresse. Elle tente de le retrouver en montrant à ses passagers, un magazine où elle y a entreposé toutes les photos de Fang Wen. Un beau jour, elle prend en stop deux passagers aussi louches l'un que l'autre, sans se douter, qu'ils sont en fait des passeurs de drogue. Lorqu'elle s'aperçoit que l'un d'eux est armé, il est déjà trop tard : elle se fait prendre en otage et rentre dans un engrenage infernal... Par chance, elle réussit à s'échapper, et par un concours de circonstances, elle va être appelée à témoigner dans cette affaire de drogue, qui va la remettre étrangement sur les traces de Fang Wen.

Trouble Makers tells the story of four simple men living in Black Well Village (in rural Yunnan province) who decide to finally run the criminal Xiong Brothers out of their homes. Le jeune Xiao Xing est élève de quatrième année dans une école de petite ville de province. Son meilleur ami est Amao, un crocodile d'environ 11 mètres de long. Par malheur, Zhao Da Zui, homme d'affaires redoutable, les a tous achetés dans le but d'en faire des mets raffinés pour les plus fins palais. Lorsque les crocodiles sont amenés attachés à l'abattoir, Amao réussit à briser les cordes et parvient à tuer le chef-cuisinier, pour ensuite s'échapper. Les habitants de la ville sont pris de panique. Et pourtant, le petit Xiao Xing et son père, le policier Da Wei Wang, sont impliqués dans cette affaire. Au cours de son évasion, Amao avale le sac qu'une certaine Wen Yan avait acheté en Italie, contenant un cellulaire et un montant d'argent de 100 000 euros. Wen Yan demande l'aide des policiers.

So Close to Paradise takes place in the 1980s in the central Chinese city of Wuhan. The film follows two young migrant workers. Young innocent Dong Zi (Shi Yu) is a pole carrier or coolie eking out a meager existence carrying heavy loads from place to place. His friend and roommate Gao Ping (Guo Tao) is from the same home village, but unlike Dong Zi, is older, more cynical, and has fallen into a life of petty crime. As the film begins, Gao has been cheated out of a small amount of money from a local gangster Su Wu (Wu Tao). Enraged, Gao drags his friend into Wuhan's underworld. Their first stop is a local bar, the Li Li Club where they go looking for Ruan Hong (Wang Tong), a Vietnamese singer who is said to know Su Wu. After speaking with her, Gao and Dong kidnap the young woman and drag her to their apartment. Gao asks Dong to leave the room after which he proceeds to rape her, while Dong peers through a crack in the door. Soon afterwards, however, Gao and Ruan suddenly become lovers, much to Dong Zi's surprise and consternation.
