In 1968, an infected man from Russia, Rubinsky, is being operated on at a military hospital when soldiers arrive and begin to shoot all of those who are in the building. One of the hospital students, DeLuca, steals a strange vial, enclosing it in his thermos. He is later shot by the soldiers as he attempts to escape through the woods and the thermos is dropped. The soldiers in the hospital continue to kill any one that has been in contact with the infected man. Zombies kill three of the soldiers and multiple hospital orderlies. The rest of the zombies are killed when C4 is detonated by sharpshooters outside the hospital.

A pair of swimsuit models are out in a boat to stage a publicity stunt by appearing to be stranded. They discover a mysterious galleon shrouded in mist and board it. When contact is lost, the wealthy and unscrupulous businessman who sent them out decides to mount his own rescue mission and abducts one of the models' friends. The abducted girl makes an unsuccessful escape attempt. The businessman and his secretary recruit an eccentric scholar to assist them in their search for the missing models and their boat.

Casper Galloway, an overly cautious boy, has become afraid of anything dangerous since the day his father died at the Occult Barn, his grandfather's shop. When his grandfather Horus receives a lifetime achievement award, Casper mans the shop so Horus can collect the trophy. Horus warns "no-one is to come within spit distance" of an urn kept on a high shelf topped with a skull; Horus's father imprisoned a malevolent spirit inside the urn and it will curse the person that lets it out. The girl Casper has a crush on visits and he tries impressing her with a free purchase for loyal patronage to the Occult Barn. However, more of their friends arrive. Casper takes down the urn to show off to the girl and clumsily drops it. Casper tries warning them of the danger, but they laugh at him. Skeptical, they invent a curse: anyone with whom they make eye contact after 10pm (since Midnight is cliche) kills themselves and comes back as a "zemon", a zombie possessed by the evil spirit. The zemons spread their infection through hickeys rather than bites, and those infected kill themselves and become zemons. They are given till morning to undue the curse. However, they were too stupid to come up with an easy way to break the curse.

Hardik (Kunal Khemu) and Luv (Vir Das) are two dope-heads, living with their roommate/friend Bunny (Anand Tiwari). The next morning, the three roommates find that the island has been infected by the "living dead" (zombies), and the three men save luna from her villa and stay together in hopes of surviving. A Russian mafioso, Boris (Saif Ali Khan, originally from Delhi/Dilli), arrives and reveals himself as a zombie slayer. The three roommates and Luna plan to use the boat they had used to travel to the island to escape from it. Finally, after escaping the island, they discover that the mainland has also been infested by the zombies, forcing them to find another way to survive.

The film follows a group of eight people who living in a crumbling, unknown installation. They are survivors of a cataclysmic war. Patsy Powers (Day-Jones) is a homely nurse who pines for handsome Dr. Dox (Gerhardt). As Patsy runs off to bandage her wound, Eastern European doctor-turned-janitor Kapotski recognizes the woodsman as a zombie and ends the man's suffering with a stake through the head. In the days that follow, Patsy's body is gradually taken over by the zombie virus. Not only does the transformation aversely affect Patsy's eating habits, it instills her with a newfound confidence that quickly catches the eye of Dr. Dox as well. Perplexed by her mousy co-worker's sudden transformation and determined to keep Dr. Dox for herself, the scheming Goody soon sets out to uncover the secret of Patsy's rising popularity.
