L'Enfance volée (Der Verdingbub) est un film dramatique suisse-alémanique réalisé par Markus Imboden, sorti en 2011.

L'histoire de ce film s'inspire des Verdingkinder, enfants placés en Suisse entre 1880 et 1950.

Synopsis

Dans les années 1950, un adolescent orphelin quitte le foyer dans lequel il est élevé pour être placé dans une famille de fermiers qui reçoit de l'argent en compensation de son accueil. Il passe des moments difficiles dans cet environnement dur et voit arriver un peu plus tard une jeune fille un peu plus jeune que lui et qui est placée là parce que sa mère ne peut plus subvenir à ses besoins et à ceux de ses deux petites sœurs. Le jeune homme est passionné de musique et joue remarquablement de l'accordéon. Un jour, après avoir entendu à la radio un morceau de bandonéon argentin, il rêve de quitter cet environnement, dans lequel on le traite comme un animal, pour aller en Argentine, là où la vie lui semble plus facile. La fille est du même avis et rêve de partir avec lui.

Axel (played by Til Schweiger) has just been dumped by his girlfriend Doro (Katja Riemann), and needs to find a new place to live. He meets Walter (Rufus Beck), a transvestite who teaches straight men how gay men think. Walter talks Axel into joining him and some friends at a gay party afterwards, and tries to convince Axel to move in with him. At the party, Axel decides instead to move in with Walter's best friend, Norbert (Joachim Król), whose boyfriend has just left him. Later, at Axel and Doro's apartment, Norbert tries to seduce Axel while they browse old photos. Just when Norbert has shed all his clothes, Doro shows up at the door, and Axel hastily hides Norbert. Doro explains to Axel that she's expecting his child and wants to give their relationship a second chance. She is not amused to discover a naked man in the wardrobe, but Axel manages to convince her that nothing has happened. Excited about fatherhood and eager to return to Doro, Axel forgets about his new friendship with Norbert.

Oskar, a meek 12-year-old boy, resides with his mother Yvonne in the western Stockholm suburb of Blackeberg in 1981 and occasionally visits his father Erik in the countryside. In 1987, obese, illiterate 16-year-old Claireece Precious Jones (Gabourey Sidibe) lives in the New York City ghetto of Harlem with her dysfunctional, abusive, unemployed mother, Mary (Mo'Nique), who has long subjected her to physical, mental and sexual abuse. Precious has also been raped by her father, Carl (Rodney "Bear" Jackson), resulting in two pregnancies. The family resides in a Section 8 tenement and survives on welfare. Her first child, "Mongo" (short for Mongoloid), has Down syndrome and is being cared for by Precious' grandmother, though Mary forces the family to pretend that Mongo lives with her and Precious so she can receive extra money from the government. When Precious' second pregnancy is discovered, her high school principal arranges for her to attend an alternative school, where she hopes Precious can change her life's direction. Precious finds a way out of her traumatic daily life by escaping into daydreams. In her mind, she has created an alternate world where she is loved and appreciated.
