The Last Wagon (Italian: L'ultima carrozzella) is a 1943 Italian comedy film directed by Mario Mattoli and starring Aldo Fabrizi.

Synopsis

Antonio Urbani, dit « Toto », est un cocher romain. Cet homme nourrit une forte antipathie pour les chauffeurs de taxis, d'après lui la cause de la disparition progressive des véhicules hippomobiles et de leurs conducteurs. Un de ces taxistes est son ex-ami Pasquale, avec son fils Roberto.

Carlo (Geronimo Meynier), a student a step away from diploma in surveying, and Gabriella (Christine Kaufmann), a student at a high school language, meet in a pool where the young girl known while swimming. Mario Valentini est un entrepreneur ambitieux ; il convoite un terrain situé dans un quartier en mutation de sa ville, sur lequel est bâti une école primaire privée, afin de construire sur cette propriété foncière un ensemble immobilier. Son projet est déjà bien élaboré, les plans ont été conçus par un architecte et le financement est quasiment assuré par une banque. Nicolino is a kitchen boy who works in a small pharmacy in the country, run by a woman unbearably rude. So Nicolino really wants to leave his job, when he discovers that you are looking for a murderess with the same face to his. Nicolino so disguises himself as a woman and flees with the first plane is: leave for Sevilla. Italy is about to take the famous cycling race of 1948, the event is seen by everyone, even by Dante Alighieri and by the Roman Emperor Nero from top of the Paradise. Totò is a mild professor who knows nothing about cycling and bicycles, but to make a good impression with her students is at stake practicing day after day. But Totò proves to be a total failure and so desperate calls the devil. This really comes and offers him a contract: Totò would win all cycling races past champions like Gino Bartali or Fausto Coppi, but in the end he had to give his soul and life after the demon. Totò initially includes only the first part of the contract or to win all the races, but then the demon appears to him a second time to remind him of the price you pay. Totò is desperate and does everything possible to not win the last race, but the legs on the pedals are as haunted and Totò can not stop. Approaching the last race and Totò is on the verge of collapsing morally, but his friends and the lovely Dorina, which Totò was madly in love, you invent a trick so clever as to deceive even the Devil.
