Synopsis
L'action se déroule à Rome, au mois d'août. Petite fille, Silvia Hacherman (Mimsy Farmer) assiste à une scène érotique à laquelle participe sa mère. Devenue chercheuse en chimie, elle reste perturbée par le décès de ses parents, notamment celui de sa mère, dont elle a poignardé l'amant. Elle se rend, en compagnie de son fiancé, chez des amis, chez qui elle rencontre un professeur africain de sociologie, qui lui dévoile les mystères de la magie noire et du vaudou. Elle va ensuite rencontrer une petite fille en robe de dentelle, qui n'est autre qu'elle-même enfant. Sous sa conduite, elle va entrer dans un monde où il devient impossible de séparer le rêve de la réalité. Incapable de retrouver le contact avec le réel, et sans savoir qu'elle est manipulée par une secte qui pratique des rituels de magie noire, Silvia va finir par se suicider, avant que son corps ne soit dévoré par les membres de la secte.Actors

A recently promoted police inspector (Gian Maria Volonté) kills his mistress (Florinda Bolkan), and then covers up his involvement in the crime. He insinuates himself into the investigation, planting clues to steer his subordinate officers toward a series of other suspects, including the woman's gay husband and a student radical. He then exonerates the other suspects and leads the investigators toward him, in order to prove that he is "above suspicion" and can get away with anything, even while being investigated. In the end, he confesses to the crime in front of his superiors - who refuse to believe him. Sure that he is safe, he recants his confession, and receives the approval of the police commissioner.

Helen Wells (Mimsy Farmer), une jeune Anglaise venue en Normandie pour louer une maison isolée en forêt, rencontre un groupe de chasseurs qui s'apprêtent à une battue au sanglier. Ces sept hommes issus de la bonne société locale sont liés par des relations d'intérêts croisées. Lors de la chasse, les grossiers frères Danville, Albert et Paul (Jean-Pierre Marielle et Philippe Léotard), croisent à nouveau par hasard la jeune femme, et subitement la violent, en présence du timide Chamond (Michel Robin). Helen parvient à blesser gravement Paul avant de prendre la fuite dans les bois, poursuivie par Albert qui lui propose un mutuel silence, puis lui tire dessus. Les autres acceptent non sans réticence d'étouffer cette sale affaire, tandis que la jeune femme cherche à s'enfuir à tout prix.

Roberto Tobias (Michael Brandon) plays the drums for a local rock and roll band when at various time, he sees a man in dark sunglasses wearing a suite and tie, watching him. After the session, Roberto follows the man through the dark streets to an apparently abandoned opera house where he confronts the man and asks him why he's been following him for the past several weeks. The man declines such actions and pulls a knife on Roberto when the drummer gets too close. In the struggle, the man is accidentally stabbed and he falls from the stage to the lower level. Suddenly a spotlight is turned onto Roberto and a masked person on the balcony snaps some photos of Roberto holding the bloody knife.

Jonas, a young drifter, is wandering in a deserted area on the road to Salina. He stops to drink some water at a desolate roadside service station when Mara, the owner, identifies him as her son Rocky, who disappeared four years ago.
