The film premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and had a limited theatrical release on September 3, 2010. Lionsgate bought the United Kingdom and United States rights to the film at Sundance. Plum Pictures and Gigi Films produced the film.
Synopsis
Bill (Sam Rockwell), a divorced deadbeat dad, is estranged from his teenage daughter Molly (Shana Dowdeswell). His friend Terry (Rob Corddry) is a high school principal who gives him a job as the coach for the girls' varsity basketball team. Bill begins to regret his decision when he meets the girls on the team: Abbie (Emma Roberts), Tamra (Meaghan Witri), Mindy (Melanie Hinkle), Wendy (Rooney Mara), Lisa (Shareeka Epps), and Kathy (Emily Rios). They improve under Bill's coaching and advise him on his relationship with his daughter, but their winning season does not protect the girls from their real world difficulties.Actors

Kathy Morrison (Harris), mother of three, who helps run a "color-blind" adoption program, wants to have another biological child. Her husband, Pete (Bologna), the head coach of the Phoenix Suns, finds out he can't produce another child. Kathy thinks about adopting a boy, Frederic "Freddie" Wilcox, and Pete does not want to adopt a boy who happens to be black. When he relents, Freddie's arrival causes an upheaval in the Morrison's neighborhood, their school, and family. Kathy's answer is to adopt another child, in this case two, a war-traumatized half-Vietnamese girl, Quan Tran, and a Hopi boy, Joe. The new extended family must now learn to live together.

Marco Montes est l'entraîneur adjoint de l'équipe de basket de l'Estudiantes Madrid en Liga ACB. Personnage arrogant et de mauvaises manières, il finit par être licencié de son travail après une altercation en plein match avec l'entraineur principal de l'équipe. Parallèlement, son couple bat de l'aile car Sonia, sa compagne, désire un enfant, mais lui tergiverse et fuit cette responsabilité. Un soir, il s'enivre de dépit dans un bar et prend le volant. Il est alors responsable d'un accident de la route. Arrêté en état d'ivresse avancée, il se voit puni d'une lourde amende. Il doit alors choisir entre deux années de prison ou 90 jours de travail d'intérêt général au sein d'une équipe de basket appelée "Les Amis" et constituée de sportifs débutants handicapés. Après un premier rejet de l'idée, il finit par s'y plier à contrecœur, jusqu'à découvrir qu'il peut beaucoup apprendre du monde du handicap. Peu à peu, l'équipe devient de plus en plus compétitive et se qualifie pour le championnat national.

Jamal Jeffries (Miguel A. Núñez, Jr.) is a UBA (fictional version of the NBA) basketball star whose undisciplined on-and-off-court antics have earned him a bad reputation in the basketball community. Jamal is dropped from his team, the Charlotte Beat and suspended indefinitely after he strips naked in protest of being taken out of a game. His agent, Lorne Daniels (Kevin Pollak), is unsuccessful at finding him a new team, and cuts Jamal as a client. Ernest (Jim Varney) takes a job with a cleaning service at the local mall, and he soon seeks to join his co-workers' basketball team, "Clean Sweep", as they compete in the city league tournament. He is reluctantly accepted by the team, but given only a minor role as their cheerleader and mascot. The story concerns Harvard student Alan Jensen, the point guard of the Harvard basketball team.
