Add to a movie listThiruda Thirudi is a 2003 Tamil film directed by debutant Subramaniam Siva. The film stars Dhanush and Chaya Singh. This film was a low-budget production and the soundtrack was composed by Dhina. This comedic love story is set in the clashing enemies starring Manikka Vinayagam, Ginja and Illavarasu among others. The soundtrack was a great hit and the song, "Manmadha Raasa.." charted at the top position for 15 weeks running. The movie went on to become a huge Blockbuster hit amidst of low expectations and promotions. It was later remade in Telugu as Donga Dongadi with Manoj Manchu and Sadha as the protagonists, and Manikka Vinayagam would reprise his role as the male protagonist's father. It was remade in Kannada as Sakha Sakhi, in which Chaya Singh is the Lead.
Synopsis
Vasu belongs to a lower-middle-class family and is irresponsible and untrustworthy. Viji is from a Telugu Traditional family and is an ambitious and career-oriented girl.Actors

Thirumalai (Vijay) mechanic who lives in Pudupet and has three close friends for whom he would do anything. Raghuvaran is an artist who comes to stay near Tirumalai’s mechanic shop with his wife Nagalakshmi (Kousalya). Thirumalai happens to meet Swetha (Jyothika), on a New Year’s Day. As she appears in front of him all of a sudden, she happens to greet saying ‘Everyone will do fine’. From that very day, things start to shine up in Thirumalai’s life. He falls in love with Swetha as he thinks that good things started to happen in his life only after she greeted him. Swetha first ignores him, but soon she understands his nature and reciprocates. Meanwhile Swetha’s father (Avinash), a business tycoon who owns six satellite channels hates the idea of a mechanic being his son-in-law and seeks the help of a local thug Arasu (Manoj.K.Jayan) whose only job is to kill people for huge money. Arasu plots an attempt to kill Thirumalai. Does Thirumalai succeed in winning his girl or is he caught up in the plot against him forms the rest of the story.

Tirupathi (Nitin Kumar Reddy) is a brilliant man who wants to become a realtor, much to the chagrin of his father (Chandramohan), who doesn't support his goal. Eventually Tirupati wins the heart of a rich girl, Priya (Sadha), sister of a business tycoon and villainous Guru (Sayaji Shinde). He realizes his ambition in real estate. The Guru wants him to drop his sister; Tirupati in return demands money. The villain gives him a cheque from a dubious bank. However, Tirupathi gets his money as he blackmails the heroine's brother, threatening to expose some photos. The villain also plans an IT raid on Tirupathi's companies. However, that plan backfires. Then Guru tries to get his sister married to another, but the hero marries her. The story ends with Tirupathi returning all the money taken from the Guru, who finally accepts the marriage.

The movie opens with Nandita (Chaya Singh) and her husband Anand (Partiban) in the process of getting a divorce. Nandita's lawyer accuses Anand of physically abusing Nandita, calling him a sadist. A flashback takes the audience back to the circumstances of their marriage. A happy working girl from the city, Nandita returns to her home village for a family function, only to find that her father, who due to differences with his sister, has decided to marry Nandita off elsewhere. Nandita, who has spent her life falling in love with Sekar (Srikanth), her cousin and original fiancé, cannot agree to this sudden marriage. However, her father forces her to agree, and the marriage to Anand takes place in less than a week. The newlyweds move back to the city, and though the kind and jovial Anand attempts to lead a life with her and make her fall in love with him, Nandita does not budge. She is normally cold and impolite, except for when she sees constant reminders of Sekar. The scene cuts back to the family court, where Nandita has gotten the divorce and she calls Anand for a final farewell, telling him to find a girl he will truly love. Now, Nandita is a free woman, living life the way she wants to, and dreaming of seeing Sekar again. She moves to a new apartment, gets a new job, and a new friend- her housekeeper, Savitri. Things are going well, but Anand is a constant unwanted presence in her life- greeting her every morning and calling her frequently. When asked why he's still around he tells her that he likes no one else but her. One Valentine's Day, Nandita sees Sekar on TV, talking about her as his soulmate, his first love. To her surprise he announces that he is getting married soon, because she is already married. An upset Nandita is pushed even further over the edge when she finds out that Savitri has been talking to Anand about Nandita. She leaves on a company business trip for a few days;a visit to a school for disabled children. Learning a few life lessons, she comes back a changed woman, and becomes open to getting to know Anand for the first time. The end of the movie shows her and Anand happily spending time with each other.

Prabhu (Dhanush) is a happy-go-lucky middle-class family guy who spends time playing carrom in the streets with his friends Santhanam, Karunas. Saravanan's (Dhanush) parents manage to send him to Singapore after having gone through a severe financial drought thinking that he would pay off all their debts as soon as he lands in Singapore. Saravanan finds a job in Singapore through an agent and lands there with high hopes of earning 3 lakh and sending money back to his family. Living in a cramped apartment, Saravanan gets into an argument with a Chinese immigrant there. One day, the immigrant burns Saravanan's passport and Saravanan starts fighting him.
