A sleeping man is stabbed by a burglar during a home invasion. The next day the burglar is arrested at a cafe while spending lavishly on wine. He is put on trial and found guilty. While the burglar is being held in prison, the film shows a series of flashbacks to the burglar as an honest workman with a happy home life. He soon begins to drink heavily, which leads to becoming a burglar and finally a murderer. As the day of execution arrives, the executioners cut his hair off and a priest performs an expiation. The burglar is led to the guillotine and he is executed.

Buster est un jeune comédien acrobate dans une troupe de théâtre professionnelle. Pendant une représentation, il est censé rentrer sur scène et apporter une lance au comédien principal, le célèbre maître Hung, mais celle-ci disparaît dans les loges presque sous ses yeux. Désespéré, il cherche l'arme partout et tombe nez à nez avec un mystérieux fantôme accompagné d'une lanterne rouge. Sans savoir comment, Buster se retrouve dans la rue, loin du théâtre où il travaille. Il arrive in extremis sur scène avec ladite lance pour la donner à maître Hung. Mais celui-ci change brutalement d'attitude et se met à chanter une chanson d'une voix de femme. Le public s'enfuit, la pièce est arrêtée et Buster finit par être renvoyé. La nuit suivante, le fantôme vient à nouveau hanter le jeune garçon.

The film is a modern interpretation of Andersen's fairy tales. 6-year-old Alice lives with her mother and grandmother near the sea and waits for the return of her father. Alice dreams of becoming a ballerina and going to ballet school, but it does not work out. Alice notices that her mother is having an affair with their neighbor. Walking in on them having sex she shouts: "Traitor! Go to hell!", and in retaliation, she burns down the house. After the eclipse of the sun, Alice stops talking. Mr. Tako, head of Pacific Pharmaceuticals, is frustrated with the television shows his company is sponsoring and wants something to boost his ratings. When a doctor tells Tako about a giant monster he discovered on the small Faro Island, Tako believes that it would be a brilliant idea to use the monster to gain publicity. Tako immediately sends two men, Sakurai and Kinsaburo, to find and bring back the monster. Meanwhile, the American submarine Seahawk gets caught in an iceberg. The iceberg collapses, unleashing Godzilla (who, in the Japanese version, had been trapped within since 1955), who then destroys the submarine and a nearby military base.
