The starting of the plot is loosely based on the 1995 American film French Kiss.
Synopsis
It is the remake of Bollywood film Pyar toh Hona Hi tha. A police officer (Radha Ravi) is on Gopi (Dileep) trail. Gopi is a petty thief and he had stolen a precious chain and is on the run. While on the run Gopi meets Veena (Bhavna Pani). Veena is on her way to break the marriage of her lover to a tycoon's daughter. Due to a certain circumstance Gopi has to hide the chain in Veena's bag but later discovers that it is missing. Gopi suspects that the chain is still with Veena and so he accompanies her in her journey.Actors

Sivaraman (Mohanlal), an unemployed man, comes to Mumbai to find a job. Unfortunately he loses all his certificates but happens to find Govindan Kutty (Mukesh), who also is a jobless man (from Sivaraman's native place) wandering in Mumbai. They try to get visa from a travel agency but finds no way to gather such massive amount. Govindan Kutty persuades Sivaraman to participate in a bank robbery planned by Thomas (Cochin Haneefa) and his gang - his stammering brother Tyootty (Jagadish) and Alina (who pretends to be Thomas' lover) - which puts them in more trouble as the robbery ends in vain when they hit Pothuval (Innocent). Alina secretly informs the police about the robbery and tells that the entire plan was carried out by Thomas. Thomas, before getting arrested, hides the money, and the place is kept secret except to his lawyer, Nambeeshan (Jagathy Sreekumar). Alina fakes to be in love with Nambeeshan to find the place where the money is hidden.

The film is set in a fictitious poverty-ridden village of Gowlipady, which is virtually ruled by the ruthless zamindari Bhandaravathi (Sukanya). Kashi (Nedumudi Venu) is a lottery salesman. In California, the Republican party governor candidate John Kory (Sean James Sutton) is striving to raise his dismal ratings. Sunny Kurishingal (Vijay Babu), the chief campaign officer of John Kory, is failing with his campaign strategies and runs out of ideas to ensure Kory's victory. Sunny is forced to consult a third person's advise and calls Francis Kunjappan (Mukesh), a PWD minister and his native friend in Kerala, for hiring any good political consultant for devising campaign strategies. Kunjappan, initially reluctant, later recommends his friend and political competitor Jagannathan (Mohanlal), thus also hoping to get rid of him as he is a political threat to his ministerial position. Jagannathan, a young politician and a sports enthusiastic, is illiterate in English but has an inborn talent to solve the gravest of issues in the most prudent manner. Even Francis had consulted him for solving his toughest problems. But Francis thinks that Jaganathan’s unorthodox ideas will fail miserably in the US. Kunjappan meets Jagannathan and offers him the job and a remuneration of ₹30 crores which is sufficient to raise Jagannathan's dream project, a sports academy in Kerala. Jagannathan takes up the assignment and flies to the US, together with his assistants Pottakuzhi Jabbar (Baburaj) and Vayalar Varkey (Aju Varghese).
