Mowgli is living in the Man Village with the girl who lured him in, Shanti, his adopted brother Ranjan, and their parents. However, Mowgli longs to return to the fun of the jungle, and after nearly leading the other children of the village into the jungle, is punished by his adopted father for trying to lead them into danger. Meanwhile, in the jungle, Shere Khan has returned to Baloo and Bagheera's part of the jungle to exact revenge on Mowgli. Baloo sneaks into the Man Village and gets Mowgli to come with him to live in the jungle; however, unbeknownst to them, Shere Khan also infiltrated the village, only to be chased off by the village people. In the ensuing chaos of the tiger's attack, Shanti and Ranjan go into the jungle to retrieve Mowgli, believing that Baloo is a hostile animal and kidnapped the boy.

Paleontologist Zack takes his nephew Ricky and niece Jade on a fossil hunt, giving the sullen Ricky his Gorgosaurus tooth while he and Jade go to the fossil bed. Alone, Ricky is met by a talking rook, who morphs into Alex the Alexornis bird, who takes the story back to the Cretaceous period 70 million years ago. Patchi is the smallest of his litter of Pachyrhinosaurus hatchlings, and is often bullied by his large, proud older brother Scowler. Their father Bulldust is the leader of the herd. Patchi is attacked by a Troodon and receives a distinctive hole in his frill when he ventures outside the nest one morning. Alex, serving as Patchi's mentor, tries to help Patchi impress a female Pachyrhinosaurus named Juniper, but her herd soon migrates south without him. Bulldust soon follows suit, moving his herd to the south, but when they try to pass through a dense forest, they are forced to flee when a forest fire erupts. Taking advantage of the chaos, Gorgon the predatory Gorgosaurus attacks the fleeing Pachyrhinosaurus, and while his pack kills their mother and siblings, Patchi and Scowler witness Gorgon killing Bulldust.

Deux élèves en CM1 à l'école Jerome Horwitz (ou Albert Martin en français) de Piqua (Ohio), Georges Glousse (le scénariste) et Harold Golade (le dessinateur) créent des bandes dessinées dans leur cabane et multiplient les blagues à l'école. Chonchon, et lui font croire successivement qu'il est un poulet, un singe puis le Capitaine Superslip, un superhéros de leur création. Quand il entend un claquement de doigts, M. Chonchon enlève ses vêtements et sa moumoute. Vêtu d'un slip immaculé, il se fait une cape d'un rideau rouge, lève le poing gauche, l'index pointé en l'air et lance le fameux slogan du Capitaine Superslip : « Tra-La Laaaa ! ». Barbie is at the premiere of her latest movie when her rival and co-star, Raquelle, steps on her dress, ripping it. Her stylists, Carrie and Taylor, use magic to mend it. In 1837, the Pirate Captain (Hugh Grant), inexpert in the ways of pirates, leads a close-knit, rag-tag group of amateur pirates who are trying to make a name for themselves on the high seas. To prove himself and his crew, the Pirate Captain enters the Pirate of the Year competition, with the winner being whoever can plunder the most. After several failed attempts to plunder mundane ships, the Pirate Captain talks with his best friend and first mate, the Pirate with a Scarf (Martin Freeman), about giving up and selling baby clothes as a living, but is convinced to try boarding the next ship they find, which happens to be the Beagle. They find no treasure but succeed in capturing Charles Darwin (David Tennant). Darwin recognizes the crew's pet Polly as the last living dodo, and implores the Pirate Captain to enter it into the Scientist of the Year competition at the Royal Society in London for a valuable prize. The Pirate Captain directs his ship to London. The Pirates disguise themselves as Girl Scouts, so that they don't get caught and executed, as Queen Victoria has a strong hatred of Pirates.

The film starts with a brief introduction in the 19th-century American West featuring a bald eagle gliding over the homeland of the mustangs, showing several western US National Parks. There is then a scene showing the birth of a dun Kiger Mustang, Spirit. Spirit soon grows into a stallion, and assumes the role of leader of the herd, whose duty it is to keep the herd safe, demonstrated when he saves two foals from a mountain lion. Spirit is a courageous leader, but has great curiosity. Spotting a strange light one night not far from his herd, the stallion is unable to control his curiosity and moves towards it. To Spirit's surprise, he finds restrained, docile horses, and two-legs (possibly wranglers) sleeping around a campfire. They wake up, and seeing him as a magnificent specimen, chase and capture him, then drag him to a US cavalry post.

In fictional Oakton City, purple squirrel Surly and his mute rat partner, Buddy, reside in Liberty Park where their thieving reputation has made them outcasts. A group of urban animals led by Raccoon and his cardinal assistant, are running low on food for winter. Red squirrel Andie and gray squirrel Grayson, a self-styled hero, compete with Surly and Buddy to scavenge from a peanut cart manned by criminals Lucky and Fingers, who are casing a bank. The squirrels' efforts inadvertently end with the cart's propane tank exploding in the park and destroying the tree, where the animals store their food. Surly is banished and Buddy goes with him.

On the streets of Fifth Avenue, an orphaned kitten named Oliver is left abandoned after his fellow orphaned kittens are adopted by passersby. Dodger then flees the scene without sharing his bounty with Oliver. Oliver follows Dodger all throughout the streets until he eventually arrives at the barge of his owner, a pickpocket named Fagin, along with his meal, to give to his friends: Tito the Chihuahua, Einstein the Great Dane, Rita the Saluki and Francis the Bulldog. Oliver sneaks into their home, located below the city's docks, and is discovered by the dogs. After a moment of confusion, Oliver is then received with a warm welcome. Fagin, owner of the dogs, comes in and explains that he is running out of time to repay the money he borrowed from Sykes, a ruthless shipyard agent and loan shark. Sykes tells Fagin the money must be paid in three days, or else. Sykes' Dobermans Roscoe and DeSoto attack Oliver but the cat is defended by Fagin's dogs. Immediately thereafter, a depressed Fagin returns to the barge, lamenting that he has only three days to find the money he owes Sykes. After the dogs cheer him up, Fagin is introduced to Oliver, and, considering that they all need help, accepts him into the gang.
