De son vrai nom Ashley McCall Scott, elle est née à Metairie, en Louisiane, et a grandi à Charleston, en Caroline du Sud. Elle a eu étant jeune des problèmes de dyslexie. Elle a déménagé à New York à son adolescence et participé à des défilés de mode à Miami, Paris et Londres. Puis elle a décidé de devenir actrice. Lors de sa première audition, elle a travaillé avec Al Pacino mais elle n'a pas eu le rôle. En 2002, elle eut le rôle-titre dans la série Les Anges de la nuit.Elle a joué deux fois avec son amie Jessica Alba dans la saison 2 de la série Dark Angel, et le film Bleu d'enfer.

Sans que ses amis et compagnons d'aventures de l'épisode 2, Bethany, Fridge et Martha, ne soient au courant, Spencer a conservé les morceaux du jeu vidéo Jumanji dans le sous-sol de la maison de sa mère. De retour pour les vacances, alors qu'il mène une vie d'étudiant difficile à New-York et qu'il est contraint de partager sa chambre avec son grand-père convalescent, il répare le système et est happé par le jeu. Le lendemain, ses amis, avec qui il avait rendez-vous pour un brunch, passent chez lui prendre de ses nouvelles, ne l'y trouvent pas, mais constatent que le jeu en est en cours dans la cave de Spencer : tous décident de rentrer dans Jumanji pour le sauver. Le grand-père de Spencer, Eddie, et son ami Milo Walker entendent le chahut et se laissent entraîner par inadvertance dans le jeu et deviennent deux des avatars de Jumanji. Les amis adolescents doivent aider Eddie et Milo à s’habituer à leurs avatars du jeu, les aider à retrouver Spencer et à s'échapper à nouveau de Jumanji (ce qui n'est pas une tâche facile étant donné qu'il s'agit du niveau supérieur).

The film opens with an infomercial, given by Dick Dupre (a parody of Don Lapre) played by John C. McGinley, which Larry (Danny Masterson) and Rico (Ronnie Warner) are watching. Larry and Rico are two stoners who live in a one-room apartment, and after watching the entire infomercial, they decide to start a "tiny classified ads" business. This is a running gag throughout the film. Each time they explain their new "business," someone asks, "Ads for what?", and they respond confidently, "That's not the point! After orchestrating a robbery, bank Vice President Jeremy Stanton (Dean Cain) gets lost driving in the desert, en route to meeting his family with a deadline of eight hours. He listens to tapes by a lifestyle guru (the film is divided into sections titled according to chapters from the guru's best-selling book) and seeks help from a telephone route-finding service, which gives him guidance that does not agree with his map. At first it seems as if he has succeeded in the perfect crime, but things quickly deteriorate – he is pursued by one of his fellow robbers (Danny Trejo), a ruthless killer whom he double crossed; his wife begins to doubt the choices they've made; he attempts to turn himself in to a state trooper, who is found dead by his pursuer's hand – and self-doubt plagues him. The film is almost a solo performance, with few other characters except Stanton and Judy (Ashley Scott), the woman from the telephone route-finder service, and tension builds in a Kafka-esque style as it becomes clear that things are not what they seem. Ultimately, it is revealed that Judy has been paid by his pursuers to lead him into a trap. He is surrounded and one of his pursuers taps on the window as the movie ends.

Former U.S. Army Special Forces sergeant Chris Vaughn (The Rock) returns to his small home town in Kitsap County, Washington.
