Babul Supriyo (Bengali: বাবুল সুপ্রিয়) (born 15 December 1970) is an Indian playback singer, who works in Bollywood as well as in the Cinema of West Bengal, he also has worked as a playback singer in several Oriya films including in many Indian languages. He was declared a BJP Candidate from Asansol in West Bengal for the Indian general election, 2014. and won the 2014 Lok Sabha Election by over 74,000 votes.

The Sanyals are a large extended family composed of the nonagarian grandfather, (Haradhan Banerjee), his son (Ranjit Mullick), daughter-in-law (Laboni Sarkar) who rules over the house like a female Hitler, reincarnated, and their children of whom two, a daughter (Koel Mallick) and son (Rishi Kaushik) live together in a beautiful mansion in Bhawanipur. There seems to be more servants in their house than family members, extending the virtues and parameters of the ideal ‘joint’ family. The film starts with everyone being excited about the return of the elder son (Babul Supriyo) from US, where he had gone for some business related work. However, all hell breaks loose, when he returns with a wife (Rituparna Sengupta) and her child from a former marriage in tow. Her first husband with underworld links was killed in police crossfire. Everyone accepts the new additions to the Sanyal family except the mother-in-law who refuses to even acknowledge her presence. The story revolves around how these two women build bridges to keep the joint family intact, with most of the credit going to the beautiful daughter-in-law who can sing, dance, cook, clean, supervise, nurse and even do matchmaking in her own way – in short, being politically appropriate and offering a perfect celluloid example of a matrimonial ‘bride wanted’ classified ad.

Bijay comes to Calcutta from Siliguri for higher studies and has a chance meeting with Rupa. Bijay experiences what is termed "Love at first sight" according to his mentor and maternal uncle Prabha mama. Although Bijay comes from a rich and affluent background, he is very down to earth and hence befriends Rana in the college despite the initial friction between them. Jeet (Jeet) is a student whose family, consisting of his parents and elder sister Devashree (Locket Chatterjee), migrated to the city. Vijay (Sunil Shetty) sole ambition is to become a collector like his father was. Finally when Vijay decides to leave Khandala, he comes to know of the actual murderers. Vijay loses Babu in the fight. Now Vijay is all-alone to fight with his enemies.
