En 1971, en Haïti, avec en arrière-plan la peur et la pauvreté infligée au peuple par le régime dictatorial des Duvalier, Fanfan nous raconte une belle histoire. Jeune garçon de quinze ans, seul avec une mère surprotectrice, il aspire à une plus grande liberté. Se promenant en secret avec son ami Gégé, à la suite d’un incident impliquant un Tonton Macoute, Fanfan est recueillie par sa belle voisine, Miki. A competition is held between two brothers on their father's ski slopes one is a skier the other a snowboarder. The competition would determine if snowboarders could be allowed to be a part the ski patrol. Into the scene arrives Rudy James, played by Jim Varney who stumbles his way into a job as ski patrol, entertainment host, and jack of all trades. What was cut out of the film was that Rudy James was hired by Mimi played by Brigitte Nielsen to ineptly sabotage the ski hill so that she could win it in a divorce proceeding. The two brothers discover her plot to damage their father's ski hill (played by SCTV's Joe Flaherty) and further hilarity ensues.

The plot deals with the politically ambitious district attorney Sam Brady (Corbin Bernsen) who has a rivalry with a federal senator and frames his son as drug dealer. He also falls in love with two women – Barbara (Olivia d'Abo) and Genevieve (Jayne Heitmeyer) – who are close friends with each other. Genevieve becomes pregnant after having sex with him and he secretly marries her. The pregnancy results in a still-birth. Being caught by Genevieve in the act of having sex with Barbara, he accidentally kills his wife in the ensuing argument, and buries, with Barbara assistance, Genevieve's body on a downtown construction site. In the end, it turns out Genevieve is still alive and was conspiring with Barbara and the senator; however, this is an intransparent part of the plot.

Avner, an adept Israeli military officer is selected as the leader of a Mossad team of expert agents for a covert mission to avenge the Munich massacre and other recent terrorist acts. They are initially successful in their assassinations but as they progress it becomes harder and harder to find their targets and they themselves are targeted with varying success by their enemies. With Avner and Jean the driver being the only survivors the mission is called off. He wishes to retire from Mossad and rejoin the regular ranks of the IDF, but his case officer is reluctant to let his most valuable asset go.
