David Aldrin Slade (born 26 September, 1969) is a British film and television director. His works include the films Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Slade is also a director for television, directing episodes for Breaking Bad, Awake, and Hannibal. Before he was a film director, Slade was a director of commercials and music videos.

Bandersnatch est présenté comme un film interactif. Un bref tutoriel, spécifique à l'appareil du spectateur, explique à ce dernier comment faire des choix. Il a ainsi dix secondes pour prendre une décision, ou par défaut une décision sera prise à sa place. Une fois une « partie » terminée, le spectateur a la possibilité de revenir en arrière et de faire un choix différent. La moyenne de visionnage est de 90 minutes, même si le chemin le plus rapide permet un visionnage de 40 minutes. Il y a 150 minutes de film divisé en 250 segments. IGN rapporte que selon Netflix, il y a cinq « grandes » fins, avec des variantes à l'intérieur de ces dernières. Quand le spectateur a atteint une de ces fins, le film interactif donne au joueur la possibilité de refaire un dernier choix crucial afin d'être en mesure d'explorer d'autres segments. Dans certains cas, le spectateur peut atteindre le même segment de plusieurs façons.

In Seattle, not far from Forks, Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) attacks and bites Riley Biers (Xavier Samuel), in order to begin creating an army of newborns with him. While Charlie Swan (Billy Burke) investigates the disappearance of Riley Biers, Edward suspects his disappearance was caused by the newborn vampires, furthering his suspicions is Riley's intrusion into Bella's room.

Barrow, Alaska is preparing for its annual "30 Days of Night", a period during the winter when there is a month-long polar night. As the town gets ready, a stranger rows ashore from a large ship. Once ashore, he sabotages the town's communications and transport, destroying all means of communication with, and travel to, the outside world. Barrow's sheriff, Eben Oleson, investigates. Eben learns that his ex-wife, Stella Oleson, missed the last plane and must stay the 30 days. Although they try to avoid one another, when Eben confronts the stranger in the town diner, Stella helps to subdue him and take him to the station house.

The film opens with a sexually charged, flirtatious online chat between two people with the screen names Thonggrrrl14 and Lensman319. Lensman319 is a photographer who admits to "fantasizing" about Thonggrrrl14. Thonggrrrl14 entices Lensman319 to meet at a café to "hook up". At the café, Thonggrrrl14 – Hayley Stark – meets Lensman319 – Jeff Kohlver. Hayley makes several references to her age (14 years old), yet succeeds in convincing Jeff to take her to his house. After showing her around, Hayley makes them both screwdrivers and asks him to take photographs. Before he can, Jeff gets dizzy, his vision blurs, and he falls to the floor unconscious.
