E. Lloyd Sheldon (May 27, 1886 – January 24, 1957) was an American screenwriter, film producer and editor. He wrote for 43 films between 1916 and 1942. He also produced 19 films between 1927 and 1939.

He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts and died in Los Angeles, California.

The film focuses on an all-female college where the students are more interested in having fun and partying than studying. Stella Ames (Bow) is the most popular student, with a loud mouth. When the young and attractive professor Gilmore 'Gil' (March) starts working there in anthropology, all the girls immediately feel attracted to him. Stella recognizes him as the man she once accidentally shared a bed with, thereby risking her reputation. The professor is unamused by the girls' bad behavior and does not seem to notice who Stella is.

Le connétable Thibault fait emprisonner le poète vagabond François Villon, lorsqu'il apprend que ce dernier est au courant de la conspiration qu'il mène avec le Duc de Bourgogne pour renverser Louis XI. Katherine, la pupille du roi, rend visite à Villon et, apprenant son histoire de trahison, le fait libérer pour qu'il puisse avoir des preuves de ses accusations. Pour cela, Villon se rend à la taverne qui est le siège du complot et y récite son poème "Si j'étais roi" (If I were king). Le roi, qui était dans la taverne sous un déguisement, décide de nommer le poète connétable à la place de Thibault, qui a déserté pour rejoindre les Bourguignons. Mais le roi lui impose une semaine pour gagner l'amour de Catherine, à défaut de quoi il sera pendu. En sept jours, Villon bat l'armée du duc, déjoue un complot contre le roi. À la fin de la semaine, il est en train de bravement monter sur l'échafaud quand Katherine lui proclame son amour et ainsi le libère.

Son père ruiné étant devenu voleur, Rhoda accepte à contrecœur de voler le tronc des pauvres d'une église.
