Gulshan Nanda (d. November 16, 1985) was popular Indian novelist and screenwriter.
siblings:Rahual Nanda,Himanshu Nanda, many of whose novels were adapted into Hindi films in 1960s and 1970s, including over a dozen big hits of the period, Kaajal (1965), Kati Patang (1970), Khilona (1970), Sharmeelee (1971) and Daag (1973). His stories ranged from social, romantic to action thrillers.

He was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Story six times, Kaajal (1965), Neel Kamal (1968), Khilona (1970), Kati Patang (1970) and Naya Zamana (1971) and Mehbooba (1976).

The story revolves around Lucknow-based Nawabzaada Aslam (Raj Babbar) lives a wealthy lifestyle along with his dad, Bakar and mom. He writes poem under the pen name of Raj Lakhnavi and is a close friend of Iqbal. One day he meets and falls in love with Salma Banarasi (Salma Agha), a banarasi-based courtesan. When his parents arranged his marriage with his foreign-returned cousin Mumtaz (Shoma Anand), he informs them that he loves salma and incurs their displeasure so much so that his dad shoots him, and he gets hospitalized. When he recovers fully he is shocked to find that salma has not only accepted Iqbal as her lover, but has also taken lot of money and jewelry from his mother. He takes to alcohol in a bing way and swears to exact vengeance against salma by getting married to mumtaz and forcing salma to sing and dance at his wedding.

Shalini 'Shalu' lives a wealthy lifestyle with her businessman brother, Shyam Kapoor, and is expected to marry Surajbhan, the son of wealthy Thakursaheb. She would prefer that Shyam got married first so that he can have someone to look after him, but as he was in love with a woman named Maya, who betrayed him, and since then he has taken to alcohol in a big way, and hates women. Popular musician Amrit Kumar Saxena usually performs on stage to entertain his fans. On one occasion he red-handily caught Bhagwat Singh alias B.K. stealing priceless jewelery but instead of reporting this to the police Amrit keep this to himself. B.K. then schemes with his girlfriend, Luska to frame Amrit for the stolen jewelery resulting in him getting sentence to jail for two years. But Amrit gets release within a year due to good conduct; it is here he thinks about closing in on B.K. and Luska resulting in a physical exercise which ends up leaving Luska dead. For fear of another arrest Amrit flee the scene only to end up boarding a train; here he gets to meet his childhood friend Vijay, his wife, Juhi and their son, Munna. Unfortunately the train meets in an accident resulting in the death of Juhi and Vijay. Amrit then reaches Munna to Juhi's residence to be introduced to her father, Mr. Sinha who recognizes him as his son-in-law, Vijay and refuses to part with him; while Amrit is apprehensive to stay he is convinced by the family's doctor that Mr. Sinha is a heart patient. It is then Amrit decides to stay on and help Mr. Sinha pull together his business; it is here Amrit starts to develop feelings for this family and Mr. Sinha decides to make him his heir to all his assets. Time passes and Amrit starts to fall in love with Juhi's sister, Reshmi only to be told that Juhi is still alive albeit with a blank memory. Juhi returns home with Dr. Joshi who is none other than Bhagwat Singh who wants to utilize this opportunity to not only expose Amrit's true reality to the Sinhas but to settle scores with Amrit for the death of his girlfriend.

This is the story of an eccentric young man, Ashok (Dharmendra) who believes in doing good without worrying about the consequences. This does not find any favor with his sister-in-law Sarla (Sulochana), and she decides to leave him. But he persuades her to come back, and he decides to relocate and not cause any more trouble for Sarla. On his way he has a skirmish with the a princess Rajkumari Seema (Hema Malini) who he teaches a lesson to respect the poor and food grown in the fields. When he arrives in the city, due to his misfortune, he lands a job at a factory run by the Rajkumari, and immediately gets in to the bad books of Prem (Prem Chopra) to whom the Rajkumari is engaged to be married. The Rajkumari also decides to teach him a lesson for the humiliation she suffered at his hands. But things work out differently, and Ashok ends up saving the life of the Rajkumari, and she falls in love with him. This jeopardizes the plans that Rajkumari's uncle (Ajit) has for her and her bethrothed Prem, and a horrifying scheme is concocted to stop the love and possible future relationship of Rajkumari and Ashok.

Singer Suraj (Rajesh Khanna) was presented with a veena (stringed musical instrument) by his fiancee. Thereafter, he often listens to an haunting song at nights and observes that name 'Ratna' was written on that. One day, while going for a stage show, he gets struck in heavy rain in an unknown place and goes to stay in a small motel, where he meets a woman named Ratna. During night, he observes that Ratna, singing the same song he often hears at night, going to a distant mahal (grand house of olden times). He follows her reflexively and enters the abandoned mahal.
