Harry Shannon (June 13, 1890 – July 27, 1964) was an American character actor. He often appeared in Western films.
In 1960, he was cast as the outlaw Clay Hooper in the episode "Showdown at Goldtown" of the ABC/Warner Brothers western television series, Colt .45. The guest cast included Robert Colbert, Ruta Lee, and Dan Sheridan.
Shannon died at the age of seventy-four in Hollywood, California.

Biography
Harry Shannon was born on a farm in Saginaw, Michigan. He began his career in live theatre and vaudeville, and switched to the film industry in the 1930s. Although he played most frequently in Westerns, his best-known film role was perhaps as Charles Foster Kane's rough father in Citizen Kane (1941). Among his other films were Someone to Remember (1943), Alaska Highway (1943), San Quentin (1946), and Witness to Murder (1954).In 1960, he was cast as the outlaw Clay Hooper in the episode "Showdown at Goldtown" of the ABC/Warner Brothers western television series, Colt .45. The guest cast included Robert Colbert, Ruta Lee, and Dan Sheridan.
Shannon died at the age of seventy-four in Hollywood, California.

The movie starts off with Glenn Tyler (Elvis Presley) getting into a fight with, and badly injuring, his drunken brother. A court releases him on probation into the care of his uncle in a small town, appointing Irene Sperry (Hope Lange) to give him psychological counselling. Marked as a trouble-maker, he is falsely suspected of various misdemeanors including an affair with Irene. Eventually shown to be innocent, he leaves to go to college and become a writer.

On the U.S.-Mexico border, a time bomb is planted in a car. A man and woman enter the vehicle and make a slow journey through town to the U.S. border, the woman (Joi Lansing) insisting that she hears something ticking. Newlyweds Miguel "Mike" Vargas (Charlton Heston), a drug enforcement official in the Mexican government, and Susie (Janet Leigh) pass the car several times on foot. The car crosses the border, then explodes, killing the occupants. Ben Allison (Clark Gable) and his brother Clint (Cameron Mitchell) journey to Montana in search of gold. They were on their way home after four years of absence serving the Confederate Army where Ben Allison was a Colonel and they were broke. They come upon wealthy businessman Nathan Stark (Robert Ryan) who they rob and kidnap before he talks them into becoming partners with him on a cattle drive to Montana. As they travel to Texas to buy the cattle, their pack mule loaded with supplies and food fell in a snowy river. They come upon a party of settlers with Nella Turner (Jane Russell) serving as the spokesperson who share their fire and agree to slaughter a mule for food; as they leave the next day they realize the Indians (Sioux) are likely to attack the settlers. Ben believed that unless someone would help, the settlers including Nella would be massacred. Ben told brother Clint and Stark to go on to San Antonio to buy the cattle and he will just join them there. Ben heads back to the settlers camp just in time to see the last of the settlers being attacked by a war party and shoots several of them. He saves Nella Turner (Jane Russell) Ben and Nella have a fling while stuck in a cabin during a snow storm. The love between Nella and Ben abruptly joined the harsh cold winter environment as Nella vehemently disagreed with Ben's plan once they get married. Nella rejects him as he "dreams too small" for just wanting to settle down to a ranch in his hometown of Prairie Dog Creek and she sees Ben's lifestyle as the road to unhappiness given her parents' experience.
