Joe Flanigan (born January 5, 1967) is an American writer and actor, best known for his portrayal of the character Major/Lt. Colonel John Sheppard in Stargate Atlantis.
Flanigan took two prizes in the Waterkeepers' Alliance downhill skiing competition at Lake Louise in January 2006, an event fellow Stargate lead Richard Dean Anderson has attended as well. He currently resides in Malibu, California.

During the demonstration of a device which allows the observation of alternate dimensions, an accident causes the building in which the demonstration is taking place - and its occupants - to be transported to a dimension seemingly devoid of animal life but for large, vicious carnivores which hunt and kill the displaced humans one by one. A creature with six eyes attacks the people. The senator is attacked and ripped in half, and Lex has a heart attack. While researching an alien creature, Josh Burke accidentally sprays Al with an acidic toxin, and the first creature kills the private. While out getting water, two groups of three include Sam, Josh, and Dr. Karen Frost in one group, and Rivers, Dr. Jillian O'Hara and Murphy in the other, try to get out. Josh steals an egg, drops it on the rock, and is instantly sliced in half by "Momma." Rivers blows himself up to save Sam, and Brian Murphy is attacked and killed by "Momma". Only Colonel Synn, Dr. Frost, and Dr. O'Hara are left. Dr. Frost goes off by herself in an attempt to find intelligent life because of a structure she saw in the distance, only to discover too late that it was part of a building that got beamed with them and she is attacked and eaten by "Momma" off-screen. At the same time Colonel Synn and Dr. O'Hara manage to repair the device and return home, but discover that upon their return, off-screen damage from the machine has apparently caused chaos in their world, presumably bringing through one of the monsters.

A high-school student named Freya McAllister (Navi Rawat) begins hearing voices in her head and is misdiagnosed with schizophrenic catalepsy. After receiving a well-earned certification from a sheltered boarding school, Carla Tate (Juliette Lewis), an ambitious and mildly mentally challenged young woman, returns home to her over-protective and slightly snobby mother Elizabeth (Diane Keaton). Starting in 1951, Faye Price is a famous Hollywood actress who, while entertaining the troops during the Korean War, falls in love with Ward Thayer, a rich heir. Seven years later, they are married, with four children. Ward loses his job and considers suicide, but Faye offers to start acting again. Originally, this upsets Ward, because he wasn't fond of moving to Fairfax, California. On the set of her new movie, the director and producer fight each other and the director eventually leaves the set. Faye offers to direct the scene herself. At first, nobody thinks she will be able to, but she turns out to direct the scene with a lot of success. She is soon offered directing jobs at television series, including Zane Grey Theater. Meanwhile, her home life is less fortunate. Ward has been depressed since going bankrupt and he has started an affair. When Faye finds out, she immediately kicks him out of the house. However, she soon agrees to give him another chance and they decide to work together on films as director and producer. Their film debut becomes a blockbuster success with positive reviews and she is contracted by Universal.
