Jenkins was the first African-American actor to star in television series on the big three television networks: The White Shadow on CBS, Bay City Blues on NBC, and Finder of Lost Loves on ABC.
Larry garnered national attention from his performance as "Wardell Stone" on The White Shadow. He is best known for his role as "Gummy" in the movie Fletch.

In 1984 to 1991, Larry was married to Michele Jenkins, and from 1997 to 2009 was married to Jean Coleman Jenkins. Larry has a 25-year-old son Jeffrey. They reside currently in LA (Hancock Park) California.Basketball is one of Larry's passion. He is big fan of Kobe Bryant, despises Steve Blake and he follows the Los Angeles Lakers.

EDtv starts off with the television channel True TV commencing interviews for a TV show that shows a normal person's life 24/7. This idea was thought up by a TV producer named Cynthia (Ellen DeGeneres). They interview Ed Pekurny (Matthew McConaughey) and his brother, Ray (Woody Harrelson). When the producers see the interview Cynthia decides to use Ed and interviews only Ed. So now they start airing the show, which they call Ed TV. The show is a total failure at first, as only boring things happen and the main producers want to pull the plug, except for Cynthia.

Officer Frank Dooley (John Candy) of the LAPD is framed for the theft of a television set by two corrupt detectives (who Dooley had actually caught robbing an appliance store). He is dismissed from the force, but escapes criminal punishment at his day in court. The next case in the courtroom features hapless defense attorney Norman Kane (Eugene Levy) attempting to defend a Charles Manson-type white supremacist leader named Lawrence Lupik (Glenn Withrow), who threatens him with death should Kane fail to keep him out of prison. Los Angeles Times reporter Irwin "Fletch" Fletcher (Chase) is writing an article exposing the drug traffic on the beaches of Los Angeles.
