Michael E. Gershman is an American cinematographer and television director. He is best known for his work on the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He made is directorial debut in the series with the episode "Passion". He was nominated for an Primetime Emmy Award in 2000 for "Outstanding Cinematography for a Single Camera Series" for his work on the episode "Hush". He also served as a director and cinematographer for the series Crossing Jordan.
Gershman has spent more than forty years working as a cinematographer and camera operator in motion pictures. Among the films he has worked on are The Deer Hunter, Heaven's Gate, Midnight Run and We Were Soldiers.

Il a commencé sa carrière en 1977 en tant qu'assistant caméraman et a notamment travaillé sur Voyage au bout de l'enfer (1978), Blow Out (1981), 58 minutes pour vivre (1990) et Nous étions soldats (2002). Il est surtout connu pour son travail sur la série Buffy contre les vampires (10 épisodes réalisés entre 1998 et 2003 et directeur de la photographie sur 82 épisodes entre 1997 et 2001), pour lequel il a été nommé en 2000 à l'Emmy Award de la meilleure photographie pour une série à caméra unique (pour l'épisode Un silence de mort).Best films

Advertising executive Nick Beam (Tim Robbins) thinks his life is going very well—until he returns home from work and discovers that his wife Ann (Kelly Preston) is apparently having an affair with his boss, Philip Barlow (Michael McKean). On the edge of a nervous breakdown, Nick drives around the city until small-time carjacker T-Paul (Martin Lawrence) jumps into Nick's SUV and attempts to rob him. Turning the tables on his mugger, Nick accidentally kidnaps T-Paul on the spot and drives him to the desert. After T-Paul robs a gas station in the Arizona desert, the mismatched pair devises a scheme to rob Nick's boss in revenge for the affair. Nick knows the combination to a safe in his boss's office containing a large amount of cash, as well as the best time to enter, and where not to venture in the building. T-Paul knows the weaknesses of the security system, how to avoid the cameras, and how to get through any electronic locks that they might encounter.

On Christmas Eve two years after the Nakatomi Tower Incident, John McClane is waiting at Washington Dulles International Airport for his wife Holly to arrive from Los Angeles. Reporter Richard Thornburg, who exposed Holly's identity to Hans Gruber in the Nakatomi Tower, is assigned a seat across the aisle from her. On the last day of school in 1988, Phyllis Nefler (Shelley Long) is a Beverly Hills wife recently separated from her husband, Freddy (Craig T. Nelson), a wealthy owner of an auto shop chain. Freddy feels Phyllis has become a self-absorbed "shopaholic" who never follows through on her commitments, and that she has drifted from the caring, imaginative personality that made him marry her. To prove him wrong, Phyllis decides to become the new den mother of their daughter, Hannah's (Jenny Lewis) unruly, leaderless local girl scout troop of Wilderness Girls. While Phyllis is boutique-hopping along Rodeo Drive, the council is overlooking her application, then approving it as they believe Phyllis has the makings of an excellent den leader. Although Phyllis severely lacks the skills found in most troop leaders, she resolves to teach the girls how to survive in "the wilds of Beverly Hills," even customizing new merit badges for her troop. One campout results in the troop getting hit by a rain squall, which Phyllis and the girls flee to the Beverly Hills Hotel. Despite her unorthodox ways, Phyllis demonstrates an unwavering commitment to the girls' well-being and acts as a surrogate mother/friend to the girls, who are often neglected by their own wealthy and distracted parents. However, during an award ceremony on a yacht, a woman gets knocked overboard and asks for a life saver and Phyllis responds which flavor. Fred remarks he was hoping to see Hannah learn a few outdoors and civil defense skills, such as first aid, and he is unsure about that under Phyllis' mentorship. Her unorthodox methods also run afoul of another scout leader, Velda Plendor (Betty Thomas), a mean-spirited, retired army nurse who runs her troop, the Culver City "Red Feathers" (of which her own daughter, Cleo (Dinah Lacey) is a member), like a military unit. Because Velda has considerable pull at the regional council level, she declares Phyllis' customized merit badges ineligible and sends her assistant troop leader, Annie Herman (Mary Gross), to infiltrate Troop Beverly Hills.

Bounty hunter Jack Walsh (De Niro) is enlisted by bail bondsman Eddie Moscone (Pantoliano) to bring accountant Jonathan "The Duke" Mardukas (Grodin) back to L.A. The accountant had embezzled $15 million from Chicago mob boss Jimmy Serrano (Farina) before skipping the $450,000 bail Moscone has posted for him. Walsh must bring Mardukas back within five days, or Moscone defaults. Moscone says the job is easy, a "midnight run", but Walsh demands $100,000. Walsh is then approached by FBI Agent Alonzo Mosely (Kotto), who wants Mardukas to be a witness against Serrano and orders Walsh to keep away from Mardukas, but Walsh takes no notice and instead steals Mosely's ID, which he uses to pass himself off as an FBI agent along his journey. Serrano’s henchmen Tony (Richard Foronjy) and Joey (Miranda) offer Walsh $1 million to turn Mardukas over to them, but he turns them down.

The film is set against the strict social hierarchy of an American public high school. Working class misfits Keith Nelson (Eric Stoltz) and the defensively tomboyish Watts (Mary Stuart Masterson) are good friends. But when Keith asks out the most popular girl in school, Amanda Jones (Lea Thompson), Watts realizes her feelings for him are much deeper. Meanwhile, Hardy Jenns (Craig Sheffer), Amanda's Corvette-driving spoiled ex-boyfriend from the rich end of town, plots trouble for Keith by inviting him and Amanda to a party after the date. Elsewhere, Amanda is cut dead by her friends. Keith finds out about the plot, believing Amanda to be party to it, but goes ahead with the date anyway, spending money saved for college and roping in Watts (as chauffeur) to help make the date special. At Jenns's party, the timely arrival of other "misfits" saves Keith from being beaten up. Keith tells Jenns he is "over" and Amanda slaps Jenns's face. In the end, Amanda decides that she needs to learn to stand on her own. Keith catches up to Watts and they kiss and walk on together.

After Laura Daniels (Kathleen Beller) - who workes at a dating consulting firm - leaves to go out on a date with lawyer Michael Krasnick (Michael Brandon), her roommate Cindy Matthews (Sherri Stoner) uses Laura's newly found Ouija board and gets in touch with 21-year-old David, who claims to have been murdered in the New York apartment in 1978. In 1870, two young men, Jim Averill and Billy Irvine, graduate from Harvard College.
