Piero Vivarelli, né le 26 février 1927 à Sienne et mort le 7 septembre 2010 à Rome, est un réalisateur scénariste et parolier italien.
Il a signé des films sous le nom de Donald Murray.
Parmi ses principaux films figurent Rita, la figlia americana avec comme interprètes Totò, Rita Pavone et les Rokes, Mister X (1967), Il dio serpente avec Nadia Cassini (1970) et Il Decamerone nero. Son dernier film, la comédie La rumbera (1998), raconte l'histoire d'une danseuse cubaine.
En 1979 il réalise Nella misura in cui..., film autobiographique.
En tant que parolier il écrit les textes des chansons 24.000 baci et Il tuo bacio è come un rock chantées par Adriano Celentano) des chansons pour Mina (Vorrei sapere perché), Little Tony (Che tipo rock), Peppino Di Capri (Non siamo più insieme et Domani è un altro giorno).
Fidel Castro lui remet la carte du Parti communiste cubain.
Il a publié un raman autobiographique : Più buio che a mezzanotte non viene, Edizioni dell'Oleandro.

Biography
Piero Vivarelli est né à Sienne. Très jeune, il adhère à la République de Salò comme volontaire à la Xe Flottiglia MAS et milite brièvement dans le mouvement Movimento Sociale Italiano. De 1949 à 1990 il milite au sein du PCI.Parmi ses principaux films figurent Rita, la figlia americana avec comme interprètes Totò, Rita Pavone et les Rokes, Mister X (1967), Il dio serpente avec Nadia Cassini (1970) et Il Decamerone nero. Son dernier film, la comédie La rumbera (1998), raconte l'histoire d'une danseuse cubaine.

Paola (Cassini) is in a deteriorating marriage with Bernard (Galeazzo Bentivoglio). After the couple move to an island in the Caribbean, Paola befriends a local woman named Stella (Beryl Cunningham) who introduces her to the cult of the serpent god Djamballà. Paola, first despising the rituals of the cult, soon realises that they represent the passion and lust lacking in her married life. At a ritual where reality is interspersed within fantasy, Paola has sex with a strong black man (Evaristo Márquez) she identifies with the serpent god himself. After her husband's sudden death, she invites her former lover Tony (Sergio Tramonti) to the island to start a new life but understands that Djamballà has become her sole obsession.

Professor Serafino Benvenuti is a master of classical music who has the passion of the orchestra director. However, the young audience of the 60 does not appreciate classical composers like Mozart or Beethoven, and so Serafino is likely to have compromised his image as a director. One day Serafino receives the news that her adopted daughter: Rita, is about to return to Italy from America, where she is studying. Serafino is very happy, because at least they can teach you the real music. However, Rita is deeply grown and changed: she follows the musical patterns of his time: the rock music and blue. Django is a drifter who drags a closed coffin around with him. He rescues a young woman, María, who is about to be murdered by bandits led by Major Jackson (Eduardo Fajardo), the man whom Django is seeking and wants to kill in revenge for him for killing his wife. After killing most of Jackson's men, Django makes a deal with a Mexican bandit general, Hugo Rodriguez, who is in conflict with Jackson, and the two steal a large quantity of gold from a Mexican Army fort (where Jackson is doing business with a government general). When Rodriguez refuses to give Django his share of the haul, Django and Maria steal the gold. Unfortunately, the gold falls into quicksand. When Rodriguez catches up to them, María is shot (though she survives) and Django's hands are crushed by Rodriguez's men as punishment for being a thief. When the bandits return to Mexico, Rodríguez and his men are massacred by Jackson and the Mexican Army. After killing Nathaniel, Jackson goes looking for Django in a cemetery. However, Django, who has bitten off the trigger-guard of his pistol, kills Jackson and his five surviving men by pressing the trigger of his gun against the cross of the grave of a female acquaintance of Django's whom Jackson had killed and repeatedly dropping the hammer.
