Rajiv Anchal is a screenwriter and film director from Kerala. He has directed eight feature films. Of late, he has based his movies in the United States. He is the life member of International Film And Television Club of Asian Academy Of Film & Television. His magnum opus is a Malayalam film, Guru, which is a symbolic and allegorical movie about the blind faith which has been perpetuated on the human mankind. Guru was officially the Indian submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1997. It was the first ever Malayalam movie selected as an entry for Academy Awards. His Beyond the Soul won three awards at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival: Best Director, Best Screenplay and Grand Jury Prize for Best Feature Film in 2003. His latest film is Paattinte Palazhy (2010).

Rajeev Anchal was previously working as an art director too. Adharvam (1989) and Njan Gandharvan (1991) had him working in the art department. He received the Kerala State Award for Best Art Direction for Njan Gandharvan. He was also the art consultant for Manu Uncle (1984).

In 1992, Anchal had begun shooting a film called Australia, however the project was abanodoned after shooting began. He then began film called Butterflies, and in it included some of the racing footage originally shot for the canceled project.

Rajiv who is also a sculptor is currently engaged in the mighty project of Jatayu Sculpture. The popular Ramayana legend about Jatayu has a connection with Kerala. It is believed, Jatayu, when Ravana cut his wings, fallen off at this place.

And any mentioning about this personality would be left incomplete unless his close associations with Karunakara Guru, Santhigiri Ashram, Thiruvananthapuram is quoted. Rajiv is a follower of this Guru and his unique, secular ideology and closely associated with the Ashram.

Bobby (Suresh Gopi) comes to high range as a helicopter pilot working for Robinson (Sreenivasan). His job is to spray copper sulphate (thurisu) in the rubber plantations. He is assisted by Venkidi (Manian Pillai Raju), Nandu and Indrans. He faced some resistance from local workers like Chako (Jagathy Sreekumar). He also had to save Robinson from many troubles. In a nearby convent he sees Sr. Cindrella (Praveena) and was shocked to realise that she is actually Megha Mathew, the sister of his best friend (Madhupal), of whose murder Bobby is currently accused of. Megha is the only witness who can prove Bobby's innocence. He fakes a helicopter malfunction and lands the copter in the convent so as to meet Megha in person. But Megha refuses to admit her identity to Bobby. She was not aware that her brother actually gave word to Bobby to give her hand to Bobby. Meanwhile, the murderers of her brother came in search of Megha. Bobby in the end rescues her from the villains and wins Megha.

Guru is a fantasy film. It is highly symbolic and makes a statement on terrorism by religions and the evils of the world. The story starts in small peaceful village in India. There is peace between the Hindus and the Muslims that live there. They all get along like family. Raghurāman (Mohanlal) is the son of the local Hindu temple's priest. When an ambitious politician's (NF Varghese) goons disguised as Muslims cause trouble at the local temple, tensions break out between the two communities. The tensions soon flame into a religious riot. Muslims and Hindus began killing each other for the sake of their own religions. Raghurāman joins Hindu gang which is about to attack a group of Muslims who have taken refuge in a guru's asram (a place where a holy guru lived and worked). But at a point Raghurāman has an out of the world experience in the asram.

The film starts with NSG Officer Shyam(Suresh Gopi) arresting a terrorist nicknamed Jagmohan Pandey. Usha Varma(Sharada), the judge of the case happens to be the sister of the Indian Home Secretary Rajan Varma(Lalu Alex). In retaliation to the arrest, the terrorists kill Unni, Usha's son. Following this incident the government enlists Z Category protection for Justice Usha Varma and her family.Rajan Varma and Balram(Ratheesh) decide to give the assignment to the Black Cat Commando Team under Shyam's command. Shyam kills Manasi's (Priya Raman) boyfriend Nathuram when he was trying to trespass her home and so they starts hating Shyam. Manasi does not know that her boyfriend was part of the terrorist group planning to kill Usha. Nathuram had been lying that he is based from France, while in reality, he was working with the terrorist group. The terrorists led by Abbas Qureshi later kidnap Manasi and she understands the truth. After Manasi's kidnap and learning about her son's assassination, Usha Varma requests Shyam's help to keep her alive until she reads the verdict in Pandey's case at the Supreme Court. Later during the exchange for Manasi's release Shyam infiltrates the terrorist hideout as Pandey along with plenty of other officers. While Pandey manages to kill Balram, Shyam finishes off both Pandey and Abbas Qureshi. The Varma family thanks him for his help, and Manasi apologizes for her hatred towards him.

A henpecked politician wants his name attached to a new bridge, even if that means destroying another, perfectly serviceable bridge. This politician Dussasana Kuruppu (Bharath Gopi) is the president of the village. He along with his other members tries to demolish the bridge on advice of his fellow party member, his right hand and crooked mind Sikhandi Pillai (Nedumudi Venu). The opposition leader Ishak Tharakan (Thilakan) makes moves to thwart this and to capture the position of the village presidency. As a compromise step, both groups agree to relocate the bridge to a distant location so that not only a new bridge, a new road also will be needed to reach the bridge.The two tenders, one for bridge and one for road is given to two local contractors, one belongs to the ruling party and the other one supported by opposition. Ultimately the bridge is built and opened to public on the same day of the marriage of Dussasana Kurup's daughter and the Bridge contractor. The marriage function is attended by many including the minister of state for public works department and the entire people who came for marriage walks through the bridge causing it to collapse killing the crippled Kathorayan (Sreenivasan). The film ends by showing the broken bridge in the background.
