Biography

Acteur, puis agent de Rudy Vallee, il est ensuite scénariste à Hollywood.

Militant anticommuniste, il participe activement à l'ère du maccarthysme en particulier avec une tournée de conférences en Amérique du Sud et la publication d'articles dans les journaux nationaux américains dont Communism in Hawaï qui lui sert de base pour le scénario de Big Jim McLain, film américain réalisé par Edward Ludwig en 1952.

Gonglé à bloc ! (The Sugarplum Staircase) publié en 1947 est sa seule production en littérature policière.

Decorated submarine commander Commander William Talbot's (Glenn Ford) boat the USS Bluefin (actually the USS Cusk) is on manoeuvers with the goal of simulating sinking the aircraft carrier USS Midway (CV-41). The Midway is carrying some politicians to view the test firing of a JB-2 missile from its flight deck. Sighting the carrier, the Bluefin attempts a simulated torpedo attack but is detected and "sunk" by a depth charge attack from a destroyer.

Marvin Howe is hired to work on the floor of the Clover Leaf Dairy Farm in Rutledge, Vermont, but much to his employer's dismay, he spends most of his working hours practicing playing the trombone, and not doing what he is supposed to. His boss, "Pop" Turnbull - the owner of the dairy, doesn't know that he is involved with Pop's daughter, Juanita, and is negatively surprised when the couple announces their engagement one day. Another man who works at the farm, Tate Winters, is also romantically interested in Juanita, and when he finds out about the engagement he convinces Pop that Marvin should be sent away on business. So Pop make Marvin go to New York City in order to obtain a membership National Dairymen's Association for him. Tate is well aware of that Pop repeatedly has been refused such a membership in the past, mainly because Pop raises goats and not cows. This makes the task nearly impossible for Marvin to perform.
