Rohini Hattangadi (Marathi: रोहिणी हत्तंगडी) (born 11 April 1955) is an Indian actress of film, theatre and television. She has won two Filmfare Awards, one National Film Award, and is the only Indian actress to win the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance as Kasturba Gandhi in Gandhi (1982). An alumna of the National School of Drama of New Delhi, Hattangadi had worked mainly in theatre when she made her movie debut with Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan in 1978. Some of her noted cinematic roles were in such art films as Arth (1982), Party and Saaransh (1984). Hattangadi was mostly offered character roles in mainstream Hindi cinema after her portrayal in Gandhi, often typecast in mother roles much ahead of her years. Respected for her acting prowess, she has appeared in over 80 feature films, and is active in theatre and television.

Biography

Rohini Hattangadi est né à Pune sous le nom de chêne Rohini. Elle a fait ses études au lycée de filles Renuka Swaroop Memorial, à Pune, en 1966. [3]
Elle a rejoint l'école nationale d'art dramatique (NSD) de New Delhi en 1971. Bien que l'Institut indien du film et de la télévision (FTII) se trouvait dans sa ville natale, Pune, elle ne l'avait pas fréquentée car elle s'intéressait principalement au théâtre et ne possédait Les premiers plans pour entrer au cinéma: "Je voulais juste être acteur ... "[2] À NSD, elle rencontra son futur mari Jayadev Hattangadi, qui faisait partie du même groupe que le sien. Ils ont été formés ensemble par Ebrahim Alkazi. Rohini et Jayadev ont un fils, Aseem Hattangadi, acteur de théâtre et acteur dans la pièce de Badal Sircar, Evam Indrajit, dirigée par son père [7]. Jaydev Hattangadi est décédé le 5 décembre 2008, à l'âge de 60 ans, après une bataille contre le cancer.

Vinayagam (Ajith) is a brave person living in a village called Oddanchatram, who lives with his four brothers Murugan (Bala), Shanmugam (Vidharth), Kumaran (Suhail) and Senthil (Munish). The elder brother loves the younger ones to the core, and sacrifices his happiness for their good. They are often caught in fights and they are proud of it. Advocate Bail Perumal (Santhanam), who bails them out whenever legal issues arise because of their brawls. Vinayagam hates the idea of marriage as he feels that his wife might create disharmony among brothers. Though the four younger brothers say that they don't want to either fall in love or get married, when Vinayagam is not around, they all have their secret lovers. Now, in order to get the green light for their love stories, they learn through his brother's childhood friend Collector Subbu (Ramesh Kanna) that Vinayakam, in school, was in love with a girl named Koppuram Devi (fondly called Kopu) and his brothers hatch a plan to find her and reintroduce her to Vinayakam, so he can fall for her all over again. But she's married now and has kids. So the brothers conspire to do the most logical thing, which is to find another woman named Koppuram Devi (fondly called Kopu), because, you see, Vinayakam was not in love with that girl so much as her name, and when he meets another (completely random) girl with that name, he is sure to lose his heart to her, just because she bears that name. Though initially reluctant later Vinayakam himself falls in love with her. He clashes with a goon called Vanangamudi (Pradeep Rawat) to take care of market in the village. Vanangamudi tries to kill Vinayagam's brothers while Vinayagam kidnaps Vanangamudi's son (Amit Kumar Tiwari) after clashing, Vinayagam orders Vanangamudi to leave this village.

Nagabhushanam (Mukesh Rishi) escapes a murder attempt from two assassins (Ajay & Bharani) at Coorg who later threaten him to kill soon. The story shifts to Hyderabad where Nandu (N. T. Rama Rao Jr.), a lonely college student lives. He spends his time with his friends and happens to fall in love in first sight with a girl named Akarsha (Samantha) who stays with her grandmother Baby Shalini (Rohini Hattangadi). With his wits and tactics he tries to make Akarsha fall in love with him and succeeds after a brief time. Nandu accompanies Akarsha to her sister's marriage in her hometown and by then, Nandu is treated as a family friend by Akarsha's family. That night, Nagabhushanam is killed by Nandu and those two assassins who happen to be a team. It is shown later that Nandu used Akarsha as a bait to reach Nagabhushanam to kill him.
