Biography

Sarah Mason est considérée comme la première scripte de l'histoire du cinéma, métier qu'elle inventa pour le tournage du film Le Lieutenant Douglas (Arizona) avec Douglas Fairbanks en 1918.

Elle est aussi connue pour avoir remporté l'Oscar en 1934 pour le scénario du film Les Quatre Filles du docteur March, aux côtés de son époux et coscénariste Victor Heerman.

Spoiled playboy Bob Merrick's (Rock Hudson) reckless behavior causes him to lose control of his speed boat. Rescuers send for the nearest resuscitator, located in Dr. Phillips's house across the lake. While the resuscitator is being used to save Merrick, Dr. Phillips suffers a heart attack and dies. Merrick ends up a patient at Dr. Phillips's clinic, where most of the doctors and nurses resent the fact that Merrick inadvertently caused Dr. Phillips's death.

The life of spoiled Robert Merrick (Robert Taylor) is saved through the use of a hospital's only pulmotor, but because the medical device cannot be in two places at once, it results in the death of Dr. Hudson, a selfless, brilliant surgeon and generous philanthropist.
