As described in a film magazine, Mrs. Sherwood (Frederick) finds life unbearable with her drunken husband Kingsley Sherwood (Holding) and longs for "one week of life" with LeRoy Scott (Ainsworth), her lying lover. She considers herself alone, making no attempt to redeem the weakling she had promised to honor and obey. Her lover finds an almost exact duplicate of her in young Marion Roche (also Frederick), discusses the situation with both women, and plans a substitution where Marion takes the place of Mrs. Sherwood while the later pretends to visit a child that is ill. LeRoy escapes with the erring Mrs. Sherwood, but Marion's situation becomes complicated when Kingsley sees finer qualities in his supposed wife than in the real Mrs. Sherwood. At Marion's suggestion, Kingsley tries to give up drinking. He does not suspect any substitution until he finds a letter that Marion has dropped, and he sets a trap to discover her purpose. He manages to enter her bedroom after she returns at night from a friendly visit, and it is exposed that his wife never left to visit a sick child, because there never was one. Marion is overwhelmed, but she has become interested in the plucky self-struggle Kingsley has put up, while he attributes his reform to her encouragement. As they become interested in each other word comes that the erring wife and her lover have been drowned while out in a canoe. In the end there is the redeemed man and the woman responsible for his redemption.

Letty Shell, une fille de modeste condition, aspire à trouver un riche époux qui la ferait s'élever socialement. Quand elle rencontre Nevill Letchmore, elle concentre toutes ses cartes sur lui. D'autres opportunités se présentent cependant à elle : elle accepte que son patron, Mandeville, lui fasse la cour, celui-ci voulant l'épouser. Mais l'homme s'avère trop rude, et après avoir accepté une invitation au restaurant, Letty retourne vers Letchmere. Cela prendra un certain temps à Letty pour se rendre compte que ses valeurs sont dépourvues de probité. Après un incident qui irrite Letchmere, mais révèle son mépris d'une classe sociale inférieure, elle finit par comprendre qu'elle ferait mieux d'épouser un homme qu'elle aime vraiment. C'est ainsi qu'elle se tournera vers Richard Perry, un jeune photographe désargenté, qui devra travailler dur pour s'en sortir, mais finalement aidé par la fortune d'un oncle riche.

As described in a film magazine, Tom Brown (Moore), a student at Harvard University, is engaged to Evelyn Ames (Daly). Her brother has become desperately involved with Marian Thorne (Winston). In an effort to protect his fiance's brother, the stigma associated with Marian Thorne's condition rests upon Tom. Evelyn breaks her engagement. Wilton Ames (Greene) crowns his borrowing of money from Tom by stealing a blank check and forging it for $300 to get Marion out of the city so that her condition may not get known. Gerald Thorne (McGrail), brother of Marian and stoke on the Harvard crew, refuses to enter the race after he is given a spurious note from his sister saying that she is leaving the city and wants to see him. Brown is put in has place and the race is won. Following the race, Gerald confronts him and charges him with being responsible for his sister's downfall. Evelyn demands that Tom marry Marian when Wilton finally confesses that he is the man involved. With Brown shown in his true light a happy reconciliation follows.
