Susarla Dakshinamurthi or S. Dakshinamurthi was an Indian film music director, playback singer, producer and an eminent carnatic musician, known for his works in South Indian film industry. He has worked for 135 films in different South Indian languages. He is noted for his works in the films Laila Majnu, Samsaram and Narthanasala.

Marziana (P. Bhanumathi) is a dancer in Baghdad. The tyrant Sher Khan, commander of the notorious king Amir Kasim Khan (M. G. Chakrapani), tries to take her by force to his palace. She is rescued by Ali Baba (M. G. Ramachandran), who fights with Sher Khan and vanquishes him. Marziana and her sidekick Dowlat (K. Sarangkapani) find refuge in Ali Baba’s house. Alibaba is an impoverished woodcutter and lives with his sister Ayisha (P. Susheela) and servant Bulbul (M. N. Rajam). Marziana learns that they are the siblings of Kasim, who had driven them out at the instigation of his cruel wife Salima (Vidyavati). Marziana and Ali Baba later fall in love.

Sekhar (Akkineni Nageswara Rao), a wealthy man, goes to comfort his friend (Chalam) in a nature cure hospital. He is impressed with the services of Sharada (Anjali Devi), and the two of them fall in love. Sekhar goes abroad for higher education, and they plan to marry after he returns; however, his elders consider marrying him to Lakshmi (Jamuna Ramanarao). Sekhar's plane crashes and everyone believes him dead. Sharada's father looks after the agricultural works of Sekhar's father (Gummadi Venkateswara Rao). One day he visits their house and discovers the condition of Sekhar's family and orphaned brothers and sisters. He and the elders think that if Sharada is married to Sekhar's father, the family will be taken care of, so Sharada marries him.

Raghu (N T Ramarao) is a government clerk lives who lives happily with his wife Manjula (Laxmirajyam) and two children. His mother Venkamma (Suryakantham), sister Kamakshi (Balasaraswathi) and her husband (Venkatramiah) live on his salary. Venkamma appropriates his earnings and Kamakshi plots to have Manujala blamed for all that goes wrong in the household. Raghu, unable to face the problems, abandons his family. Manjula has to work as a housemaid, and the children must beg on the streets. His brother Venu (ANR) lives in the village. He comes to the city, tracks down Raghu, and finds him a job. He is teased by Kamala (Pushpalata) and falls in love. He opens up the secret agenda of his mother and sister and finally joins the happy family.
