Richard William "Wil" Wheaton III (born July 29, 1972) is an American actor, blogger, voice actor and writer. He is known for his portrayals of Wesley Crusher on the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation, Gordie Lachance in the film Stand by Me, Joey Trotta in Toy Soldiers, and for his recurring role as a fictionalized version of himself on the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory.
Wheaton married Anne Prince on November 7, 1999 and lives in Arcadia, California with her and her two sons from a previous relationship. When one son was 18, he asked Wheaton to legally adopt him, which he did.
Wheaton is an aficionado of computers, the internet, and technology in general. He says he is drawn to alternatives like Linux because he is left-handed, though he ceased using Linux when he switched to Windows 2000. Since at least 2003, his operating system of choice has been OS X, though he still runs Linux (Debian) in a virtual machine. He also enjoys brewing his own beer at home, and he collaborated with Fark creator Drew Curtis and Stone Brewing Co. CEO Greg Koch to create a geek-themed stout beer called Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout.
Wheaton is also a major longtime fan of the Los Angeles Kings ice hockey team and can often be found at the Staples Center at both regular season and playoff games. Wheaton is also a "die-hard" fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and has gone to many games at Dodger Stadium.
Wheaton suffers from generalized anxiety disorder and chronic depression. He supports mental health nonprofit organizations in raising awareness for these conditions.

Fin Shepard and his ex-wife April Wexler are flying to New York City to promote How to Survive a Sharknado and Other Unnatural Disasters, a book April has written about the Los Angeles sharknado. As the plane comes in for a landing through a storm, it is battered by airborne sharks, losing an engine. Sharks enter the plane, killing passengers and crew, including both pilots. While Fin successfully lands the plane, April's hand is bitten off by a shark while she attempts to shoot it with an air marshal's handgun.

Wil Wheaton portrays Zach Means, a frustrated Kansas tollbooth worker whose friend has invited him to take a round-the-world cruise with him. While desiring to take him up on this offer, Zach is hesitant to leave behind his familiar surroundings to enter the great unknown. The film focuses on a day in Means' life at the Matfield Green tollbooth, an isolated exit miles away from any sizable settlements, where Means spends much of his time hitting golf balls while waiting for the occasional driver to pass through his station. During the course of the day, Zach learns that his childhood sweetheart, Christina, will be marrying another friend of his. One of the drivers passing through the booth (who knows Zach) asks him why he doesn't take his sailor friend up on his offer, and when this man returns later to find Zach gone, he assumes that Zach has finally decided to go for it—until he encounters a road crew a few miles down a desolate stretch of highway, with Zach as the signman.
