Will Quadflieg, né Friedrich Wilhelm Quadflieg le 15 septembre 1914 à Oberhausen, en Rhénanie-du-Nord-Westphalie (Allemagne), et mort le 27 novembre 2003 à Osterholz-Scharmbeck (Allemagne), est un acteur allemand de théâtre, de cinéma et de télévision, qui travaillait également comme récitant et metteur en scène de théâtre.

Biography


Après la guerre, Will Quadflieg joue sur diverses scènes théâtrales. À Hambourg, en 1946, il co-fonda le Junge Theatre, l'actuel théâtre Ernst Deutsch. De 1952 à 1959, il joue Jedermann au Festival de Salzbourg.

De 1956 à 1962, il collabore avec Gustaf Gründgens au Deutsches Schauspielhaus de Hambourg et est Faust dans Faust. Une tragédie (ou Faust. Première partie de la tragédie) de Goethe dans sa propre mise en scène, avec Gründgens comme Méphisto, pour que les deux acteurs puissent connaître les rôles les plus célèbres. En 1960, cette production a également été filmée sous la direction de Peter Gorski.

Il est le père de Christian Quadflieg et de Roswitha Quadflieg.

In the mid-19th-century, Lola Montès (Martine Carol) is a famous, past-her-prime dancer and courtesan who has led an eventful and highly scandalous life. (She supposedly holds a world record for number of lovers.) She is now reduced to performing in a New Orleans circus, where an impresario/ringmaster (Peter Ustinov) has both befriended and exploited her by making her the central attraction. In the course of a single circus performance — which dramatically reenacts Lola's life and career — flashbacks reveal, first, her affair with composer Franz Liszt (Will Quadflieg); second, her unhappy youth and marriage to her own mother's boyfriend, Lt. Thomas James (Ivan Desny); and then her scandalous public breakup with conductor Claudio Pirotto (Claude Pinoteau). Along the way, her career as a dancer and "actress" has its ups and downs and she initially rejects the career advances of a younger version of Ustinov's impresario. In a longer flashback, constituting most of the second half of the film, her career as courtesan reaches a peak: her affair with the Bavarian King Ludwig I (Anton Walbrook), which incenses his subjects and leads to his eventual downfall in the March Revolution of 1848. In a final circus sequence, Lola — a "fallen woman" — ascends to the apex of the big top tent for a symbolic, death-defying plunge. She is last seen allowing herself to be touched, or kissed, by a very long queue of male, fee-paying circus patrons.

Le physicien Ernst A. Gruber a deux filles adultes : Ellen est en couple à Harry Altenberger, dont le père banquier finance l'institut de Gruber. Susanne, la deuxième fille de Gruber, est mariée avec Thomas Robertsen, un chercheur de l'institut. Les trois hommes planifient une ascension en ballon dans la stratosphère. Comme Harry invente davantage de mensonges pour couvrir Susanna, Thomas est de plus en plus méfiant envers lui et Susanne.

Friedberg, vers 1850. Andreas Halm arrive encore avec son mauvais violon, avec lequel il accompagne son élève et sa petite amie secrète Agnès qui joue du piano. Il lui sera difficile de convaincre de son habileté en trois jours le virtuose George Hellmesberger, venu donner un concert à Homburg. The film starts with Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, held prisoner in Fotheringhay Castle, awaiting the final judgement in her case, which is expected within a few hours. Soon she finds out that the Royal Court has sentenced her, with the assent of Queen Elizabeth I, to be executed on the scaffold on the following day. She breaks down and remembers the events leading to her now imminent death. The bulk of the film consists of this flashback.
