A Master Builder is a 2013 film directed by Jonathan Demme, based on Henrik Ibsen's play The Master Builder. The film was released in the United States in June 2014 and stars Wallace Shawn, Julie Hagerty, and Andre Gregory. The film is a colour production of the Ibsen play dealing with the relationship between an aging architect and a younger woman. The play originally premiered in 1893.
Synopsis
Halvard Solness (Shawn) is an aging architect of a small town in Norway who has managed to attain some distinction and local reputation, and long married to Aline (Hagerty). One day while having a visit from his friend Doctor Herdal (Pine), Solness is visited by Hilde Wangel (Joyce), a young woman of twenty-four from another town whom the doctor promptly recognizes from a recent trip.Actors

The film is based on the somewhat whimsical and somewhat comical relationship between a fairly unlikely couple involved in a complex and emotionally tortured cohabitation. The real scandal of the film begins when Marie decides to leave Bruce. Her lack of measured decisiveness in leaving, however, leads to the heaping on of verbal invective and a stream of sarcastic and pejorative language, assumed to have accumulated over the years. At the climactic dinner scene at a restaurant, Marie finally expresses her verbal contempt for Bruce but without much effect. The two return to their apartment and are seen falling asleep in their double bed as the film ends.

Mais ses parents, horrifiés à la pensée de voir leur fils amoureux épouser une chinoise, la rejettent. Croyant qu'elle est marquée à vie par le fait d'être une orientale, Ming Toy pense qu'elle devra passer une vie de souffrance. Cependant, elle découvre qu'elle est bien une femme blanche et qu'elle a été élevée par une famille chinoise lorsque ses parents, un couple de missionnaires, furent assassinés, expliquant alors sa proximité avec la culture et les mœurs chinois dont elle est imprégnés. Apprenant cela, Charlie Yong se détourne d'elle et les parents de Benson décident alors de bénir leur union.

The Women follows the lives of Manhattan women, focusing in particular on Mary Haines (Norma Shearer), the cheerful, contented wife of Stephen and mother of Little Mary (Virginia Weidler). After a bit of gossip flies around the salon these wealthy women visit, Mary's cousin Sylvia Fowler (Rosalind Russell) goes to a Salon to get the newest, exclusive nail color: Jungle Red. She learns from a manicurist that Mary's husband has been having an affair with a predatory perfume counter girl named Crystal Allen (Joan Crawford). A notorious gossip, Sylvia delights in sharing the news with Mary's friends; she sets up Mary with an appointment with the same manicurist so that she hears the rumor about Stephen's infidelity.
