Coproduction de l'Uruguay, de l'Argentine, de l'Espagne et de la France, Compañeros est sélectionné à la Mostra de Venise 2018, au Festival de Saint-Sébastien 2018 ; il reçoit le prix spécial du jury, le prix du public et le prix du Jury œcuménique au Festival de Fribourg 2019 et la Pyramide d'or du meilleur film au Festival du Caire 2018.
Synopsis
En 1973, à la suite d'un coup d'état, s'installe en Uruguay une dictature militaire qui s'empresse d'emprisonner les opposants politiques. Parmi eux, trois dirigeants des Tupamaros, José Mujica dit Pepe, Eleuterio Fernández Huidobro dit Ñato et Mauricio Rosencof que le pouvoir en place considère comme des otages qui seront exécutés à la moindre action de leurs quelques compagnons d'arme restés en liberté. Incarcérés sans procès pendant douze ans, les trois hommes sont torturés, privés de tout contact, ballotés de geôles sordides en culs de basse fosse, affamés et maintenu dans un état de crasse indescriptible. Malgré cela, les trois hommes résistent en repensant aux moments heureux de leur vie, en communiquant en frappant sur les murs ou en mettant en évidence l'absurdité du régime pénitentiaire. Ils font échouer ainsi le plan des militaires de les rendre fous faute de pouvoir les tuer.Actors

S'ils votent contre, elles seront divulguées publiquement. Stupéfaite, Gun hésite à révéler la machination liée à cette intervention illégale. Malgré tout, elle envoie anonymement le mémo à la presse afin de tenter d'empêcher la guerre qui s'annonce inutile et aux conséquences désastreuses. Mais, en choisissant d'exposer cette vaste conspiration politique, la lanceuse d'alerte met en danger sa vie, son couple, sa liberté et son sens du patriotisme. Car sa décision est considérée comme une trahison aux yeux des services secrets britanniques.

On April 14, 1865, the Civil War ends with the North's victory. Lawyer, and Union veteran Frederick Aiken, with his friends, William Thomas Hamilton and Nicholas Baker, celebrate. Aiken and his girlfriend Sarah Weston decide to take a walk. Later that same night, Southerner Lewis Payne unsuccessfully attempts to kill Secretary of State William Seward, only seriously wounding him. German immigrant and carriage repair business owner George Atzerodt is assigned to kill Vice President Andrew Johnson but becomes afraid and runs away. Meanwhile, actor John Wilkes Booth, enters Ford's Theatre and sees his target, President Abraham Lincoln. Booth sneaks into the President's box and shoots Lincoln, mortally wounding him. Booth stabs diplomat and military officer Henry Rathbone who was a guest in Lincoln's box, and leaps onto the stage, shouting, "Sic Semper Tyrannis! The South is avenged!" before escaping. Everyone, including Aiken, Hamilton and Baker, watch in horror with the crowd as the unconscious President is taken to a nearby boarding house where he dies early the next morning.

The time is the early-to-mid-1960s, the height of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. An unknown aircraft approaches North America from Europe. American bombers of the Strategic Air Command (SAC) are scrambled to their fail safe points near Russia. The bombers have orders not to proceed past their fail safe points without receiving a special attack code. The original "threat" is proven to be innocuous and recall orders are issued. However, due to a technical failure, the attack code is transmitted to Group Six, which consists of six Vindicator supersonic bombers and four escort fighters. Colonel Grady, the head of the group, tries to contact Omaha to verify the fail-safe order (called Positive Check), but due to Soviet radar jamming, Grady cannot hear Omaha. Concluding that the attack order and the radar jamming could only mean nuclear war, Grady commands Group Six towards Moscow, their intended destination.
