Synopsis
Mexico, années 1920. Le caudillo militaire à la tête du pays annonce la fin de son règne. Son candidat favori pour lui succéder est l'actuel Chef du gouvernement. Mais, à l'intérieur de son propre parti et à la Chambre des députés, d'autres hommes politiques soutiennent le ministre de la Guerre, le général Ignacio Aguirre. Ce dernier, afin de ne pas entrer en conflit avec le caudillo, donne sa démission. Malgré les pressions de ses partisans, il hésite à postuler sa candidature. Après l'attentat commis contre l'un de ses amis député et une violente altercation avec le général Jiménez, Chef du gouvernement, il modifie sa position. Ce qui lui vaut bientôt d'être arrêté par les fidèles du caudillo. Le général Elizondo, un de ses soutiens, organise son évasion. Toutefois, Aguirre finira par être trahi et sera assassiné sur la route de Toluca.Actors

Employée des renseignements britanniques, au sein du Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), Katharine Gun reçoit dans ses courriels un mémo secret indiquant que les États-Unis sollicitent l'aide de la Grande-Bretagne pour rassembler des informations compromettantes sur certains délégués du Conseil de l'ONU afin de les obliger à voter en faveur de l'invasion. S'ils votent contre, elles seront divulguées publiquement. Stupéfaite, Gun hésite à révéler la machination liée à cette intervention illégale. Malgré tout, elle envoie anonymement le mémo à la presse afin de tenter d'empêcher la guerre qui s'annonce inutile et aux conséquences désastreuses. Mais, en choisissant d'exposer cette vaste conspiration politique, la lanceuse d'alerte met en danger sa vie, son couple, sa liberté et son sens du patriotisme. Car sa décision est considérée comme une trahison aux yeux des services secrets britanniques.

The time is the early-to-mid-1960s, the height of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. An unknown aircraft approaches North America from Europe. American bombers of the Strategic Air Command (SAC) are scrambled to their fail safe points near Russia. The bombers have orders not to proceed past their fail safe points without receiving a special attack code. The original "threat" is proven to be innocuous and recall orders are issued. However, due to a technical failure, the attack code is transmitted to Group Six, which consists of six Vindicator supersonic bombers and four escort fighters. Colonel Grady, the head of the group, tries to contact Omaha to verify the fail-safe order (called Positive Check), but due to Soviet radar jamming, Grady cannot hear Omaha. Concluding that the attack order and the radar jamming could only mean nuclear war, Grady commands Group Six towards Moscow, their intended destination.

Les événements relatés dans les deux parties de La Révolution française sont nombreux. Les producteurs ont voulu relever le défi inédit de couvrir l’ensemble de la période révolutionnaire et donc tous ses principaux événements (ce qui en fait d'ailleurs un film pédagogique malgré son parti pris clairement dantoniste). L'œuvre passe cependant très vite sur la guerre de Vendée, qui n’est mentionnée que quatre fois, notamment par Robespierre et Desmoulins, qui dénonce le massacre d’ « un peuple entier ». Le film se termine sur l’exécution de Robespierre et Saint-Just en 1794 et omet d'évoquer la suite des événements. Toutefois, la Révolution française s'étend jusqu'en 1799, année du coup d'État de Napoléon Bonaparte.

One night, a thief fleeing through Georgetown in Washington, D.C., is shot by a man carrying a briefcase. A pizza delivery man who witnesses the incident is also shot by the killer and is left in a coma. Congressman Stephen Collins (Ben Affleck) is distraught to hear that the woman was Sonia Baker (Maria Thayer), a lead researcher on his staff. Collins, who has military experience, is leading an investigation into PointCorp, a private defense contractor with controversial operations involving mercenaries. Collins tells his former college roommate and old friend Cal McAffrey (Russell Crowe), an investigative reporter, that he had been having an affair with Sonia and that she had sent him a cheerful video message on the morning of her death, which he says is inconsistent and unusual behavior for someone about to commit suicide.
