Synopsis
Ajay (Nagarjuna Akkineni) is an adman (director and actor) who has a definite idea about how his future wife should be. He gets married to a village belle Kamakshi (Simran Bagga), handpicked by his mom from her native town Kovvuru. After marriage, Kamakshi meets with a hairline fracture. The entire family of Kamakshi lands up at Ajay's house to take care of Kamakshi. She has a beautiful and greedy sister called Lahari (Reema Sen). During that period Suma (Suman Ranganathan), the regular model of Ajay meets with a fracture and Lahari replaces her as the model opposite Ajay. During that moment, Lahari gets lured by the modeling profession and then falls in love with Ajay. But Ajay does not have any feelings for her. Kamakshi gets well and her family returns to their village. Lahari tells Kamakshi about her desire to marry Ajay. Kamakshi gets mad and returns home to her husband. Meanwhile, Lahari attempts suicide. Kamakshi, being very close to Lahari, promises Lahari that she will get her married to Ajay. The rest of the film is about how Ajay manages to save his marriage without hurting Lahari and how he gets back Kamakshi.Actors

Chinnaiya (Sarath Kumar) is a faithful servant in the house of a rich man (Vijayakumar). The rich man is angry with his elder daughter (Sitara), who yearns to mend their relationship. His second daughter, Prabhavathy (Simran Bagga), who arrives from America, falls in love with Chinnaiya but after gaining his trust, accuses him of attempting to rape her. Turns out that she did this to try to unite her sister's family with her father and send Chinnaiya out since it was Chinnaiya's father who killed her mother. So Chinnaiya is kicked out of the house. Meanwhile Muthaiya (also Sarath Kumar), Chinnaiya's father, is released from jail.

Naattamai (Sarathkumar) is a very kind-hearted, disciplined man. He sits on the ancestral throne in his village to do justice (similar to panchayat). He hears all the cases and gives solutions and punishments to the wrong-doers. His wife, Khushboo admires and respects him a lot. His brothers Pasupathi (sarathkumar) and Raja Ravindra fear for him and also have a lot of respect for him as he has brought them up as his children. The young Sarathkumar marries Meena, daughter of an industrialist. She at first never liked Naatamai and her husband for being so timid before his brother but later transforms after knowing his greatness from her father.Raja Ravindra loves his paternal cousin(Ponnambalam)'s daughter (Sanghavi). In the flashback, Periya Naatamai(Vijayakumar) father of naatamai orders Ponnambalam to marry his servant's daughter whom he raped, though he is his sister's son. His brother-in-law shoots at him as he is disappointed by his verdict.Enraged Periya Naatamai gives his final verdict before dying to abandon their family and whoever visits his house will receive the same punishment and also not to share even a glass of water with them. Ponnambalam from then builds envy on his uncle's family and waits for an opportunity to take revenge on them. He plans to bring a lady (Subhashri) as a teacher to the school in the village and tells her to make young Sarathkumar fall for her. She does so to save her father who is in the hands of Ponnambalam. He kills her and makes the villagers believe that Sarathkumar has done this. Naatamai sentences 10 years of exile for his brother's family. Now Ponnambalam comes to know of his daughter's love and tries to kill Raja Ravindra with the help of his goons. Sarathkumar goes in rescue of him and pregnant Meena goes to Naatamai to convey this message. Manorama rushes to Nattamai and reveals the truth and tells that he punished his brother without committing any mistake. Naatamai takes revenge on Ponnambalam and dies on knowing that he gave a wrong verdict. Now younger Sarathkumar is shown taking the ancestral throne from his brother.

Natarajan (Delhi Ganesh) is a Brahmin house-owner near the Parthasarathy Temple looking for a right tenant for the upper portion of his house. He is very protective of his college going beautiful daughter Gayathri (Kanika). Since he often fears that the prospective tenant might romance with his daughter he filters all the people who come asking for the house. Thenali Soman (Kamal Hassan) is a man who fears anything and everything.
