Synopsis
Octobre 1965, New York. Les traditionnels géants des Fêtes de Pampelune sont invités à défiler sur la 5ème avenue. Mais les autorités américaines interdisent la participation des deux géants noirs dans le contexte de la ségrégation raciale. C’en est trop pour Manex qui, fidèle à ses convictions et son tempérament rebelle, fausse compagnie à ses collègues. Il part à la découverte du New York de la lutte pour les droits civiques et de la contre-culture. Il est alors loin de s’imaginer que c’est le début pour lui d’un périple loin de son Pays Basque natal, entre Cuba et Mexico, en passant par Alger et Montréal. Il y croisera des militants de tous bords, des agents de la CIA, des femmes passionnées et révolutionnaires… Entre voyage initiatique et odyssée libertaire, Manex traverse le monde en ébullition de cette fin des années 60, celui de la Guerre Froide et des mouvements de libération des peuples.Actors

Okwe is an illegal Nigerian immigrant to the United Kingdom who drives a cab in London during the day and works at the front desk of a hotel at night. The hotel is staffed with many immigrants, both legal and illegal. Okwe keeps himself awake by chewing khat, an herbal stimulant. A doctor in his home country, he was forced to flee after being falsely accused of murdering his wife. In London, he is pressed into giving medical treatment to other poor immigrants, including fellow cab drivers with venereal diseases. Okwe's friend Guo Yi, an employee at a hospital mortuary, provides him with antibiotics under the table.

Fighting in the trenches of Biscay in 1875 during the Third Carlist War, Carmelo Mendiluze, an army sergeant, learns from a young errand boy named Ilegorri that Manuel Iriguíbel, his neighbor from his native village, has joined their exhausted battalion. Panicking under fire, Manuel drops to the ground and smears himself with blood gushing hot from the neck of his mortally wounded neighbor, Mendiluze. When the battle is over, Manuel crawls out from a cartload of the dead, naked bodies as he is transported away from the front lines. Nobody has seen his escape, except a curious, solitary cow.
