An autocratic bad tempered woman controls family members-her husband, two brothers and the servants which symbolizes the political dictatorship of Ayub Khan in then East Pakistan. Both stories run in parallel. Outside, the people of East Pakistan(now Bangladesh)rise in political protest, and inside, the family members raise their voices against the tyrannical woman. Kali (Gopichand) lives along with his mother on the business of hiring mike set and lighting equipment for wedding and other ceremonies. Jyothi (Meera Jasmine) is a singer who sings chorus in films. A lady police inspector (Ankitha) keeps on following Kali and tries to seduce him to make him fall in her love. Kali is also a threat for many in his area as he answers only with muscle power if things work against him. Knowing this, once Jyothi claims that she is Kali’s person to save herself from a group of eve teasers. Eve teasers leave her for the fear of Kali. In a dramatic sequence, like in any other film Kali happens to encounter Jyothi. Gopichand inclines for Jyothi and proposes her. But she negates and tells her flash back.

Sivaji (Rajinikanth), an Indian software systems architect, returns to India from the United States. He aims to establish a non-profit trust called the Sivaji Foundation to build a network of hospitals and educational institutions to serve the poor free of charge. However, Adiseshan (Suman), an influential businessman, sees Sivaji as his competitor with the fact of the matter being that he runs profit-making educational institutions and hospitals. Sivaji is forced to bribe the corrupt civil service, but eventually, the bribes demanded become so high that he has to mortgage his house and sell his car to pay them. When Sivaji goes to court, he loses the case filed against him by Adiseshan regarding the methods Sivaji had used to open his foundation as a result of bribing numerous government officials. Simultaneously, Sivaji falls in love with a girl named Tamizhselvi (Shriya Saran). However, upon asking for his horoscope, an astrologer warns that their union will result in Sivaji's death. When Tamizhselvi refuses the proposal due to her concern for Sivaji, he calms her fears and convinces her to marry him.

Rajnarayan Babu(Rajjak) has two sons and one daughter. They are Tuhin(Pijush Ganguly) Tushar (Prosenjit Chatterjee) and Khushi(Sreelekha Mitra). Tuhin's wife is Hena and Khushi's husband is Amit. After all this Rajnarayan decides to take up a part-time job. Tuhin's wife insults him and his wife. She also starts conspiring with his mother. Rajnarayan's wife has a cerebral attack and becomes a paraplegic.Tushar and his father take care of her. Rajnarayan again asks his elder son to return all the money. His son asks him to come to his office. When he goes there he is insulted by an employee. Rajnarayan Babu searches frantically for a job but does not succeed. Rajnarayan starts pulling carts. Tushar has a quarrel with his brother over this. Rajnarayan's wife soon passes away. Finally Tuhin realises his fault and teaches his wife a good lesson.
