Chinna Chinna Kannile is a 2000 Tamil thriller film directed by Ameerjan. The film features Prakash Raj, Kushboo and Nassar in lead roles. The film had musical score by Sampath Selvan and was released on 2 September 2000 to mixed reviews.
Synopsis
Rathi (Kushboo), a music video director, lives with her husband Ravi (Nassar) and their two kids. However, she is unaware that her husband Ravi is in fact a robber. He carries out smart crimes with his partner Sabesan (Prakash Raj). The police officer Dev (Thalaivasal Vijay) is pressured to arrest them. After a diamond heist which gone wrong, Ravi finally gets caught while Sabesan escapes. Ravi managed to hide the diamonds in his house before being hauled off by the police. During the police custody, Ravi is shot by Dev, injuring him heavily. So Ravi is moved to the hospital and the doctors eventually saves his life. Thereafter, Sabesan goes to his ward and he questions Ravi about the diamonds. Sabesan even killed his partner to leave oneself a way out. Sabesan is now urged to find the diamonds and enters Rathi's household as Ravi's friend. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.Actors

The film starts with Singaravelan a.k.a. Velan (Kamal Hassan), on his birthday taming a wild bull by just talking to him. He seems to share a special bond with animals as he works in his farm filled with animals. Later that day, his mother, Parvathy (Sumithra), calls him and decides to tell him the truth about his father. Velan, in his hyper imagination, thinks that his father was killed by four goons (as is the case of many Tamil films then) but soon learns that his father did actually die of a brain illness like he had been told before. But, he had died heartbroken that his marriage with Velan’s mother was not accepted by her sister-in-law and they had broken all links. Further, they believe that it was Parvathy’s curse that killed them in a car accident and they get promise from the guardian, that their daughter should not be married to Parvathy's son. Velan’s mother reveals that it is Velan’s duty to get married to her brother's daughter Sumathi (Khusboo) to bring the separated family back together. Armed with only a picture of the girl when she was 4, he leaves for Madras to fulfill his mother’s wishes.

Balu (Rajinikanth), an absent minded lecturer in a college, and Sumathi (Suhasini) love each other and plan to marry soon. Balu lives with his younger brother, Raju (Prabhu), and Raju already calls Sumathi "Anni". Raju is a bad student and somewhat a rowdy, spoiled by Balu and Sumathi's pamperings. Raju keeps getting into fights with a fellow student (Nassar) and as a result keeps getting into trouble. When Balu comes to help Raju during one of those fights he is killed by Nassar. Sumathi goes into a trance, dons the garb of a widow and does not plan to marry again. Both Raju and Sumathi move to Bangalore. Then one day a look-alike of Balu, named Shankar (Rajinikanth) enters Sumathi and Raju's life. Guilt-ridden Raju thinks that he has gotten his brother back, and tries to make amends by hiring Shankar, not knowing that Shankar is a wanted criminal, and is looking for an escape route from the authorities. But the electric attraction between Shankar and Sumathi eventually wins Shankar over from his past evil ways. Nevertheless, Shankar can not so easily escape his past. Sumathi is kidnapped in order to force Shankar to aid a kingpin (Captain Raju) by using an international car rally championship as cover to smuggle diamonds. With Raju's help, of course, good prevails over evil and symbolically, Shanker is wounded protecting Sumathi and as they role free of the shooting and explosions and come to rest, it is seen that Sumathi's forehead has been marked crimson by the blood of her soul mate. Raju has learnt a heart-crushing lesson in the dangers or excess and frivolity but in the end, there is hope and greater wisdom. In the midst of all this, he also falls in love with and marries Kushboo.
