Synopsis
Dastak is the story of a mentally unstable genius (Sharad Kapoor) and his obsession for the Miss Universe (Sushmita Sen). Sharad is so obsessed with Sushmita that he starts killing her near and dear ones in order to get to her. Eventually he kidnaps Sushmita and takes her to a distant isolated island in Seychelles. There, he makes her life miserable. Sushmita tries every trick to get out of this hell. But ultimately, everything falls apart. Sushmita tries to reform Sharad by telling him that he should face his problems rather than inflicting the same physical and mental pain (that he went through in his childhood) on other people. But Sharad refuses to listen and amend his ways. In the climax, he tries to kill Sushmita because she does not love him. At the end, Sushmita kills Sharad in self-defense. She writes and dedicates it to people like Sharad.Actors

The year is 1975, the place is Mahim, Bombay. This is the story of Tikku (Paresh Rawal), a eunuch, the only child of yesteryear Bollywood actress Nazneen Begum. She has fallen upon hard times, is virtually destitute and is dependent on Tikku, who does make-up/hair-dressing of Bollywood actresses. When she passes away, Tikku is beside himself with grief. After the funeral, he witnesses a woman leaving a child in a garbage bin. Rahul Malhotra (Aamir Khan) is the caretaker of a garment company that has a pending order of two lakh shirts to Mr Bijlani. Roop Rathore (Shahrukh Khan) is a singer in Bombay just like his father (Anupam Kher), who is now sick and needs immediate medical care. One day, while he is singing at Ajay Narang's (Naseeruddin Shah) hotel, Ajay's sister Reshma (Ramya Krishnan) falls in love with Roop. Reshma is a spoiled girl and Ajay looks through all of her wishes. Unfortunately, Roop is in love with a doctor named Pooja (Pooja Bhatt). Meanwhile, Reshma is obsessed with Roop, and asks her brother to call him again to sing in their hotel. But when she sees that all the girls are flattered over Roop, she gets very angry, and asks him to sing only for her now onwards. But Roop would rather work for rival Patel (Shri Vallabh Vyas) than take this offer. Ajay's obsession with keeping his sister happy at all costs comes into play and Patel is brutally beaten by him until he agrees to throw Roop out of his hotel. Desperately in need of money for his father's operation, Roop has no option but to agree to Reshma. Roop breaks up with Pooja.

Pooja (Shabana Azmi), who grew up as an orphan girl and always dreamt of owning a house, becomes insecure when she finds out that she and her husband, Inder (Kulbhushan Kharbanda), have to leave the apartment they rent. The twist that occurred when Inder gives her the keys of a new house proves to be double-edged, when it is revealed that he is in love with another woman, Kavita (Smita Patil), with whom he earned the money (in the film industry) for the new apartment. While previously giving advice to her maid (Rohini Hattangadi) cheated by her husband, now Pooja becomes herself involved in a similar situation. When Inder deserts Pooja for Kavita, she chooses to leave the apartment for a women's hostel with only 7px2000 that she had when she got married. She is helped by Raj (Raj Kiran) to surpass the difficulties of life as a single person, to find a job and to rely morally on herself. Raj and Pooja become good friends. Gradually, Kavita's mental instability deepens her fears of insecurity, even after Inder requests Pooja to sign the divorce papers.

As children, Suraj (Aditya Pancholi) and Amar (Mohsin Khan) have watched their father being brutally beaten by a police inspector. Both grow up and become small time criminals. This leads them to the big gangster Pasha (Paresh Rawal). They part ways because Amar hates gangland activities, especially drugs. Suraj, on the other hand, wants wealth and wants to become rich. Suraj kills Pasha and becomes a big time gang leader. Amar is terrified that Suraj is lost in the world of crime and has forgotten humanity. In the climax of the movie, Sultan Anupam Kher phones Suraj and asks him to kill Amar to which he refuses. Later that day Suraj is chased by the police (Inspector Kotwal had ordered Inspector Khan to do so) and is injured while his bodyguard is killed. Suraj reaches the place where Amar and Suraj used to go and Amar who felt the voice of his friend calling him rushed to the place. Inspector Kotwal reaches there and Amar tells him that Suraj wishes to surrender. Inspector Kotwal reveals that he is actually Sultan, the real gang leader and attempts to kill Suraj. Amar saves Suraj and thinking that he had killed Sultan he returns to Suraj, just then Sultan arrives at the scene and attempts to stab Amar from behind, Suraj seeing him coming towards Amar pushes Amar and is stabbed by Sultan who is finally killed by Amar.

Rahul is angry with his dad for marrying a second time, while his first wife is still alive; Anu ran away from an oppressive girls' hostel run by Arnie Campbell (Tom Alter). They meet and fall in love. Rahul helps Anu in becoming independent and seeking a job. Anu is approached by a talent agent to be a model, an offer which she accepts. Mumbai-based college teacher Amar Verma (Naseeruddin Shah) lives with his wife, Shobha (Soni Razdan), and 6 year old son, Kunal. When a war breaks out between ganglords Veljibhai (Paresh Rawal) and Chhapan Tikli (Gulshan Grover) alias Jimmy, a number of innocent bystanders fall victim, one of whom is Kunal. This devastates the Verma family. Shobha walks out on Amar, who then devotes his life to his students. Many years later, when he finds out that a student, Pooja (Pooja Bhatt), has a problem of stammering, he decides to help her. He finds out that she is the only child of gangster Veljibhai. Amar meets with Veljibhai, discusses the gang-war scenario, then meets with Chhapan Tikli and does the same. Amar gets the gangsters to agree on a truce so that he can take Pooja and the rest of the students on a field trip to Bangalore. Amar will soon find out that neither Veljibhai nor Chhapan Tikli has any intention of keeping any truce. As the two dons engage in a fight to the finish, it seems that Amar may well have jeopardized his own life as well as the lives of Pooja and the other students. An additional complication arises with Pooja falling in love with her classmate Karan (Atul Agnihotri) and wishing to marry him against the wishes of her father.

Alcoholic movie director, Rahul (Rahul Roy) ends up in a Rehabilitation Centre. Once there, he finds out that there is an inmate, Pooja (Pooja Bhatt), who is schizophrenic and has deep ranging mental problems. After an initial clash of personalities, the two become fast friends, and find that they are in love with each other. But Pooja's paranoia and instability makes any relationship impossible, and as a result she is hospitalized in a mental institution. Shortly thereafter there is a fire at the institution, and Pooja is killed in it. Rahul is devastated by Pooja's death, and is unable to take her off of his mind. One of his movie actresses, Seema (Pooja Bedi), and his brother Rohit, attempt to divert his mind, without much success. Then Rahul starts getting phone calls from a girl whose voice resembles Pooja's. Near the end it is found out that Pooja is alive, and she was the one who had burned down the mental institution because "she didn't like it there". Rahul and Pooja run away from the cops and Pooja's dad who wants her back in mental hospital is trying to trace her. They roam the jungle and change places but they are caught by the police in a town and at the climax Pooja snatches a gun from a police officer and shoots herself saying she doesn't want to go back to the mental hospital, she wants to be with Rahul. Her grandfather and Rahul helplessly watch her die.

The story follows Simran (Mallika Sherawat), a young woman married to Sudhir (Ashmit Patel), a workaholic and ex-husband of her dead sister. Simran married Sudhir in order to give motherly love to Sudhir and Sonia's(Sister of Simran) son. Due to her lonely, passionless married life, she begins an affair with her college love, Sunny (Emraan Hashmi), whom she accidentally meets. Sunny came in Simran's life after many years. She starts telling lies to Sudhir so as to meet Sunny daily. She gets so engrossed in their affair that she forgets all her commitments as a wife and mother, and she realises that it is grossly wrong. She decides to end the affair but, to her surprise, she finds another woman named Radhika with him. Simran then realises the mistake of sleeping with Sunny just because of an unhappy marital life. She laments her unfaithful act.
