Kalat Nakalat is a Marathi movie released on 11 December 1989. Produced by Smita Talwalkar and directed by Kanchan Nayak. The movie is based on a happy and loving family, and how everything changes because of one mistake.

Synopsis

Manohar and Uma are a happy couple with two lovely kids; Chakuli and Bacchu. Manohar has an affair with a widow, Manisha Salkar. When Uma finds out, she leaves him and takes the children along to her parent’s place. Her mother and brother try to convince her, but in vain. She gets a job and her brother advises her to stay separately.

Dhananjay Mane (Ashok Saraf) is a street-smart salesperson in a cosmetic store owned by Madhuri (Ashwini Bhave) in Pune. He lives as a tenant of a stingy landlord Vishwas Sarpotdar (Sudhir Joshi). One night, Dhananjay, Parshuram and Sudhir insult their landlord while drunk and are taken away by Shantanu, who arrives at the scene a little too late. Arjun Singh (Sunil Shetty) comes from a very poor family. He lives in a small and shabby tenement with his mom and sister. He studying in a collage where he fall in love with Deepa (Divya Bharti). In order to teach Arjun a lesson, Bhai orders people in this community to stop interacting with Arjun and his family, and as a result the three are alienated. His sister is raped, and his mother passes away. Then Bhai has Arjun captured and chained. But Arjun manages to escape, only to find that he has been framed for murder and is arrested by the police.

Film begins with Aburao (Laxmikant Berde), a famous film-star in Maharashtra, performing death rituals (Śrāddha) for his mother, Manjula (Madhu Kambikar) in his hometown Begadewadi. As these rituals are usually performed with the shaved head, Aburao is forced to do it by wearing a wig so that he does not lose on the continuity of his films currently being shot. To capture on his popularity, rituals are also being covered by media. Exasperated with media attention, Aburao leaves the crematory and heads towards his mother's home, only to revisit his childhood memories.
