Lucky Star is a 2013 Malayalam comedy-drama film written and directed by Deepu Anthikkad in his directorial debut. The film stars Jayaram and Mukesh alongside Rachana Narayanankutty, who debuts in cinema. The film is about how an abandoned child bring a sea change in the life of his proxy parents. The threesome who lend reason to the title are Aravindan (Jayaram), Chandu (Mukesh) and Joy (Sreenivasan). They value friendship over everything else, even family, and for this reason, Chandu resists the advances of Aravindan's sister Uma (Divya Unni). When the trio take up a painter's job at a mansion, Aravindan falls in love with Padmini (Meena), who lives there and Padmini's jealous cousin makes him believe that his overtures are reciprocated. When the truth is revealed and Padmini rejects him outright, Chandu stands up for his friend and speaks ill of her. This makes her swear to separate the friends.

Parthasarathy (Jayaram, popularly called Parthan, lives in Krishnapuram village. Parthan is constantly clashing with his uncle Falgunan Thampy (Jagathy Sreekumar), who is the Panchayath President. Balakrishnan (Mukesh) is a heart patient. He urgently needs a heart transplant and luckily he gets the heart of Aby Mathew (Jayaram) who was dead a few moments ago. After the operation, Balakrishnan discovers that he can see Aby Mathew while nobody else can. Aby Mathew is now a ghost and he wants to bring his killers in front of the law. He takes Balakrishnan's help and start investigating. At first, nobody is ready to believe Balakrishnan as no one believes in ghosts. Balakrishnan also takes the help of Sub Inspector Damu (Sreenivasan) who also at first does not believe him. Balakrishnan discovers that Aby Mathew was murdered by his adopted brother and confidant Alex Chandanavelil (Saikumar) to take over his business and that the lives of Aby's wife (Maathu)and mother (Kaviyoor Ponnamma) are also in danger. The rest of the plot is Balakrishnan's attempt to save them.

Thomas alias Thorappan Thoma (Mukesh) and Pathira Thankappan (Sreenivasan) are two petty thieves working under Kottayam Kochunni (Jagathi Sreekumar), a notorious thief wanted by police. One day, to financially support Athapady Anthru (Mamukkoya), his master, Kochunni plans a big robbery at a hotel suite along with his disciples. On the same day, three young sons of Vikraman (Rajan P. Dev), a mafia don arrives in Kochi. K.R (Prathapachandran) his business rival plans to shoot down the children of Vikraman on same night at their hotel suite. But after getting the news, they wait for the killer to enter their room, heavily armed. Both Thorappan Thoma and Pathira Thankappan enters the same suite, and is attacked by them. In a bid to escape both fights back. The commotion leads to chaos and police arrives. Thoma and Thankappan are trialed for killing the sons of Vikraman and is sentenced for five years in jail. Kochunni and Andru escapes from the scene. Two years after the incident, Thankappan gets parole and absconds. Thoma is granted parole, but has been assigned to find out Thankappan in two weeks. Kochunni now runs an automobile shop, where Andru is a worker under him. Thoma arrives at Kochunni's shop in search of money. He is assigned to hand over a car at Chennai. Unknowing that the car belongs to same Vikraman, Thoma sets for Chennai. In the meantime, the elder son of Vikraman is shot dead by KR. Vikraman suspects Thoma for this, who is now in Chennai. Accidentally he happens to meet Thankappan, who is now married and is living under a new name Shambhu Iyer. Both Thankappan and Thoma is now on run from police and Vikraman. Their chase and fight to prove innocence forms the rest of the story.
