Lucky Star is a 1929 American romantic drama silent film starring Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell, and directed by Frank Borzage. The plot involves the impact of World War I upon a farm girl (Gaynor) and a returning soldier (Farrell).
The movie was produced by William Fox with cinematography by Chester A. Lyons and William Cooper Smith, and the supporting cast includes Paul Fix and Guinn "Big Boy" Williams. In the previous two years, Borzage had also directed Gaynor in 7th Heaven and Street Angel, two of the three films (along with F.W. Murnau's Sunrise) for which Gaynor won the first Academy Award for Best Actress.
Synopsis
Mary, une pauvre fille de ferme, rencontre Tim juste au moment où la guerre est déclarée. Tim s'engage et part pour les champs de bataille de l'Europe, où il est blessé et perd l'usage de ses jambes. De retour chez lui, Mary lui rend visite. Ils sont profondément attirés l'un vers l'autre mais son handicap empêche Tim de déclarer son amour à Mary. Des complications arrivent lorsque Martin, l'ex-sergent de Tim et une brute, s'entiche de Mary...Actors

Set around 1900, the titular Lazybones is in love with Agnes. Her sister, Ruth, returns home with a child and a story about marrying a seaman who was lost at sea. She attempts suicide by jumping in the river, but Lazybones saves her and, taking pity on the child, Kit, adopts her without revealing her true mother. Agnes and Ruth's mother is very strict and when told by Ruth of the child, strikes her with a cane. As the years pass, Ruth dies and Lazybones goes off to World War I.
