The movie revolves around Thomman (Rajan P. Dev), who is a thief, and his two adopted sons, Shivan (Mammotty) and Sathyan (Lal). The story begins when they decide to mend their ways and lead a hardworking life. They own a lorry now and want to find work. Their lorry breaks down near Udumalpet. There the twists start. Sathyan steals the food from Panicker (Janardhanan)'s house. Actually the rice is mixed with poison by Panicker due to oppression from the village head Thevar (Kalashala Babu because Panicker's son cheats him and his daughter and go with Thevar's Money. Thomman eats the food and is hospitalized. After returning from hospital Thomman and sons come to Panickers house to know the truth. Now there is also Thomman and his sons with Panicker to help them and they defeat Thevar gang and take Thevar's Aid Rajakkannu or Rajappan (Salim Kumar) as their Adima means Slave. Later Thevar's daughter Poonkavanam (Laya) falls in love with Shivan. Thevar arranges Shivan's marriage with his daughter. There Kaaliyappan (Anand), who Poonkavanam's maternal uncle comes to stop the marriage. His plan success. At the marriage night Sathyan becomes a thief who robs the groom's Ornaments. Then Shivan and Sathyan Separates due to this incident. Actually Kaliyappan was its master brain. He tries to kill Sathyan and tell everyone that he escaped with the money. He killed Panicker's son by this way. But now Kaliyappan fails. Shivan come and help Sathyan. They go to Thevar’s house and reveals to him the truth about Panicker’s son and all misdeeds of Kaliyappan. After all becomes good there is a bad news for Shivan and Sathyan by Rajakkannu that Thomman due to his son’s separation attempt to suicide from a big mountain. His sons come there and Thomman tell that they would fight and Defeat him then only he stops his suicide attempt. At Last The Comical Climax Takes Place. Shivan and Sathyan beats Thomman and Thomman says -Ningalu thommanne makkalu thanne.

The threesome who lend reason to the title are Aravindan (Jayaram), Chandu (Mukesh) and Joy (Sreenivasan). They value friendship over everything else, even family, and for this reason, Chandu resists the advances of Aravindan's sister Uma (Divya Unni). When the trio take up a painter's job at a mansion, Aravindan falls in love with Padmini (Meena), who lives there and Padmini's jealous cousin makes him believe that his overtures are reciprocated. When the truth is revealed and Padmini rejects him outright, Chandu stands up for his friend and speaks ill of her. This makes her swear to separate the friends.

The film starts with a message "The aged aren't always wise, nor do the elderly always understand justice" Job 32:9. The story is narrated by the communist leader (TG Ravi) who witnessed it. The story is set in 1900 in Munnar in British occupied India. Harrison is a British businessman who comes to Munnar to cultivate tea. Harrison finds an able boy amidst his workers and names him 'Iyob'(Job). Harrison holds Iyob close and helps him get married to Annamma (Reenu Mathews). Harrison's wife leaves him, later he sees Kazhali (Lena) and becomes interested in her. When he finds out Kazhali's relation with Thacho, one of his servants. Iyob kills Thacho after Harrison order him to. Afterwards, Harrison takes Kazhali as his mistress and she becomes pregnant. In the time of the First World War, Harrison's business gets affected and he leaves for Britain but dies on the way. Knowing this Iyob throws Kazhali out of the house and takes over all assets of Harrison.

Harikrishnan (Jayasurya) is the adopted younger brother of Karunan (Lal). When Karunan loses his right hand in an accident, Hari at a young age takes responsibility of his family. Rasheed (Lal) is an NRI working in the Gulf. He comes to his hometown Kozhikode on a vacation for his daughter's engagement. Rasheed has invested in a commercial property next to his house which he has let out to store owners, except for one room. During his holiday, he meets his friends here and they bond every night over a few peg of drinks. During one of these days, Rashid's friend Nanmarayil Suran (Vinay Forrt), an autorickshaw driver, locks him with a prostitute in a garage from the outside to let the two have some fun. He fails to turn up as promised and the two end up spending two nights and one day together in the garage. The rest of the narrative revolves around the embarrassing plight of these two and the lives of Suran, Thankam and Manoharan.
