The film is an esoteric fantasy about a girl and her passion for a celestial lover, who keeps appearing from a wooden statue that she found on a beach but is invisible to others.
Synopsis
On a study tour, Bhama (Suparna Anand), a final-year degree student, finds a wooden sculpture on the beach. She finds it beautiful and decides to keep it. The same night in her hotel room, when all her friends have gone for dinner, Bhama takes it out and keeps it on her bed. The sculpture magically turns into a young man (Nitish Bharadwaj), who passionately kisses Bhama. Bhama is attracted to him, but he vanishes. At her study leave, while preparing for examinations, Bhama again feels his presence. She moves towards a tree, but is stunned to find a beautiful blue butterfly. She hears his voice in the air, introducing himself as a gandharva who has developed a particular liking for her. At her request, he appears in front of her as a normal man. The gandharva asks her to call him Devan and she falls in love with him.Actors

Vishwanathan (Jayaram), an innocent young man in Kochi for a job interview is mistaken by many for a hardcore criminal and is arrested by police. His similarity to the criminal is so accurate that even cops mistakes him to a local criminal. Luckily, George Kutty (Mukesh), the police inspector, happens to be the classmate of Vishwanathan, and gets him released. George Kutty explains Vishwanathan about the crimes done by the criminal, whose real name and background is a mystery even for police. Looking just the same as Vishwanathan, he has several criminal cases pending against him and is on run. Vishwanathan, joins a job in city and falls in love with his co-worker Ambili (Shobhana). Mohandas, his MD in the company one day has a visitor in his office, who again mistakes VIshwanathan for the criminal, which ends in losing his job. The problems faced by Vishwanathan continues, including the breaking down of a marriage proposal for his sister. Vishwanathn thus loses hope in life and decides to take revenge against the criminal. He imposters himself as the criminal and extorts money there by inviting ire of the criminal. Vishwanthan is thus chased by the criminal. In a bitter fight, the criminal is accidentally stabbed to death by one of his accomplices. But his body is mistaken to be of Vishwanathan's as a bag containing educational certificates and bank passbook was lying near the body. Vishwanathan on reaching home witnesses his family performing last rites. That night, Vishwanathan appears in front of his father and explains him the reality. His father consoles Vishwanathan and tries to take him inside the house. Vishwanathan refuses to go with him and decides to live as the criminal for the rest of his life as a sweet revenge for ruining his life.

Elizabeth (Sukumari) is a physical education instructor at a college and lives with her son Emil (Rahman) and unmarried brother Vakkachan (Nedumudi Venu). She is well loved and respected by her students. When she retires students suggest her to start a beauty parlour to keep her active and be in touch with them. Emil, who wants to upgrade his still photography business to video-graphy and Vakkachan who want to expand his pawn brokerage are apprehensive at first but then decides to help out. They start Eve's beauty parlour at home with all fanfare. But the appointed beautician turns out to be completely incompetent with some disastrous skin rash, hair dye incidents. Even her beloved students avoid her and an upset Elizabeth dismisses the beautician. Emil is sympathetic and advertises for a beautician through news papers.

Namukku Parkkan Munthiri Thoppukal is a warm and lyrical motion picture centered around a Malayalee Syrian Christian-Nasrani ("Nazarene") family. It was based on the Malayalam novel Nammukku Graamangalil Chennu Raappaarkkaam (Let us go and dwell in the villages) by K. K. Sudhakaran (1986). The title of the film and novel is based upon a passage from Biblical book of The Song of Solomon or Song of Songs, Chapter 7:12: "Let us get up early to the vineyards."
