Nitish Bharadwaj (born 2 June 1963), also called Nitesh Bharadwaj (Hindi: नितीश भारद्वाज) is an Indian film actor, director, screenwriter and former member of the Indian Parliament Lok Sabha. He is best known for his portrayal of Lord Krishna in B. R. Chopra's television series Mahabharat, as well as for his portrayal of several Avatars of Vishnu in some of Chopra's other works, such as Vishnu Puran.
His debut directorial film in Marathi titled 'Pitruroon' has won him accolades from both the audiences & critics and he now focusses on his film career entirely through screenwriting, directing & acting.


Academically Nitish is a qualified veterinary surgeon from Bombay Veterinary College, Parel, Mumbai.

Biography

In 1991, Nitish Bharadwaj married Monisha Patil, daughter of Vimla Patil, then editor of Femina. They have two children, and divorced in 2005. Monisha now lives in London with her children. Nitish married Smita Gate, an IAS officer (1992 batch) from Madhya Pradesh cadre, in 2009.

L'action se déroule à l'époque de la civilisation de la vallée de l’Indus, au XXIe siècle av. J.-C., dans l'une des plus anciennes villes du monde, Mohenjo Daro. La ville est gouvernée par Maham, le chef du sénat. Malhonnête et très cruel, sa cupidité est sur le point de détruire la cité. Sarman (Hrithik Roshan), un jeune et courageux cultivateur d'indigo, se rend à Mohenjo Daro pour y échanger ses produits au marché. Il tombe alors amoureux de Chaani (Pooja Hegde). Fille d'un chef religieux, il lui a été prédit qu'elle serait à l’origine d’une nouvelle société. À sa naissance, elle a été promise à Moonja (Arunoday Singh), le fils de Maham. À l’issue d'une épreuve de force entre les deux hommes, Sarman va non seulement apprendre sa véritable identité et la raison de son lien fort à Mohenjo Daro mais aussi mettre en place le nouvel ordre, même si cela signifie sacrifier la vieille ville aux mains de la divinité de la rivière.

Ganga (Govinda) and Gauri (Karishma Kapoor) are in love but the young lovers are not permitted to marry. One night they run away, finding themselves in the den of an evil sage (Puneet Issar) who is trying to coerce the Lord of the Snakes (Nitish Bharadwaj) into giving him a gem he needs to make the nectar which will give him immortality. This event can only happen on this one night of the full moon, which comes only once ever twenty five years. But the young lovers defend the Snake and destruct the Sage's plan. The angry sage turns Gauri to a stone and unable to withstand the shock, Gangwa passes away. But the magical snake saves the day by proclaiming that Gangwa will be reborn, still with love in his heart for Gauri, and twenty five years later they will find each other again.

On a study tour, Bhama (Suparna Anand), a final-year degree student, finds a wooden sculpture on the beach. She finds it beautiful and decides to keep it. The same night in her hotel room, when all her friends have gone for dinner, Bhama takes it out and keeps it on her bed. The sculpture magically turns into a young man (Nitish Bharadwaj), who passionately kisses Bhama. Bhama is attracted to him, but he vanishes. At her study leave, while preparing for examinations, Bhama again feels his presence. She moves towards a tree, but is stunned to find a beautiful blue butterfly. She hears his voice in the air, introducing himself as a gandharva who has developed a particular liking for her. At her request, he appears in front of her as a normal man. The gandharva asks her to call him Devan and she falls in love with him.

The film is set in the Buddhist town of Sariput in the deserts of Central Asia, around 200 B.C., when the town is struck by a devastating sandstorm that leaves behind only four survivors: two monks, and two children taking refuge in the monastery. Twenty years later, the monks have aged, while the boy (Nitish Bhardwaj) and the girl (Pallavi Joshi) have grown and fall in love. The jealous monk deceitfully persuades the boy to become a monk, but the girl wins him back. As a result both are expelled from the monastery, and that is when the sandstorm strikes once again..
