Rupaye Dus Karod is a 1991 Indian Bollywood suspense thriller film directed by Sikander Bharti and produced by Waman K. Dehsmukh and written by Shabdh Kumar. The film was made in the style of formula-based potboilers and was a hit. It stars Rajesh Khanna in the lead role and supporting cast includes Chunky Pandey, Amrita Singh, Sonu Walia, Avinash Wadhavan, Deepika Chikhalia, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Kiran Kumar in pivotal roles. Rupaye Dus Karod (ten crores of rupees) is the story of a detective novelist (writing in Hindi) - Ravi Varma (Rajesh Khanna) whose father had to flee from India in his childhood itself because of a conspiracy masterminded by his wicked business partners and later Ravi finds himself in mystery murder and another plot to have tried to earn 10 crore by fraudulent means .

Synopsis

Chamanlal, Aatmaram were partners with Jamuna Das and Babubhai but Atmaram discovers that the core business is selling women abroad for prostitution, he breaks away from this partnership and tells the wife of Chamanlal. Chamanlal's wife confronts him but Chamanlal is steadfast and decides not to leave the business. In an extreme reaction his wife leaves the house along-with her son and clothes to start a living on her own. Chamanlal keeps thinking about this matter and decides to meet his other two partners to convey he feels this business is unethical and that he cares for his family's sentiments more and asks for his final share before parting ways. But because of a conspiracy masterminded by his wicked business partners (Kiran Kumar and Sadashiv Amrapurkar), Chamanlal presumes he killed Babubhai(Kiran Kumar) and the prime witness to this supposedly murder - Vakil Jamuna Das(Sadashiv Amarpurkar), asks Chamanlal to flee but at the same time informs the police to search for him. Chamanlal searches for his wife and son but cannot locate them and so informs Atmaram that now he has reformed and that he needs to search for his son and wife who have left him.He also tells Atmaram that he is innocent and wants to escape. Meanwhile after reading in newspapers about police searching for Chamanlal and that Chamanalal has died in an accident, his wife considers herself a widower and brings up her only child by tailoring.

Hasmukh Rai (Kader Khan) has a problem. As a matter of fact, two problems — his two sons: Munnu (Chunky Pandey) and Bunnu (Govinda Ahuja). The duo are notorious slackers, always up to no good, and involved in elaborate practical jokes. It comes to Hasmukh's attention that his sons have been lying to him about their college grades — in studies and sports — and have not been attending school for the last three years. Bharat Nagar is a city in modern secular India that is terrorized by a gangster named Bhika, who is protected by the local politician, Gulabchand Jhakotia, his son, Police Inspector Bhushan, and the D.S.P. Anand Saxena. When Inspector Gurdayal Singh accumulates enough evidence to arrest Bhika, he is killed. Bhushan then attempts to molest an activist, Asha, but is stopped by Vijay, her fiancé. But Bhushan kills Vijay and ends up getting killed by Asha. The Police arrest Asha and hold her in a cell without permitting her to meet with anyone including her brother, Aadesh. Then Bhushan's position is filled with Inspector S.P. Jagdishan, who does attempt to bring law and order to this troubled city, and even permits Aadesh to meet with Asha. When Bhika kills the owner of the local newspaper 'Bharat Nagar Times', Jagdishan arrests him after D' Souza's daughter, Mary, comes forward to testify - only to get instructions for his transfer to distant Malegaon, and the immediate release of Bhika - who, together with Gulabchand, are now set to rule over Bharat Nagar - with no one bold enough to stand in their way.

A boy child is born and Kumar gives the kid so much love that the boy is more affectionate to Kumar than his mother. Meanwhile Ravi survives and with the help of his parents (Shafi Inamdaar) wants to return to Mussoorie. Before that could happen, Kiran's father tells them that Kiran is no more, throwing Ravi into a relapse. Months later Ravi does recover, but refuses to get married. Then five years later he finds out that there is going to be another car rally there and despite of his parents' objections, he travels to Mussoorie and this is where he will find out that Kiran is still alive and even has a son, and her husband is none other than the wealthy widower - Kumar. Ravi must now find out why Kiran's father lied to him, and whether or not Kiran wanted to marry Kumar because of his wealth.Kumar's life is drastically changes once Ravi makes a reentry to their lives.

But after getting to know that his son Varun wants to marry Sakhi, Raj Anand stops the shooting of the film Nagar Vadhu. Its then that Varun comes to believe that his father has been having an illicit relationship with Sakhi for years now and this results in misunderstandings between the father-son duo.Rest of the story is about what happens to Raj and Varun's relation and whether Sakhi and Varun ever get together and how Raj Anand's career and life and the making of the debut film gets affected due to all these incidents.
