Seeta Rama Jananam (Telugu: సీతారామ జననం) is a 1944 Telugu film directed by Ghantasala Balaramaiah. This is a mile stone film for Akkineni Nageswara Rao, who acted for the first as Hero Rama. Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao debuted in this film as chorus singer and for a character role. Vedantam Raghavaiah was the choreographer.

Subhadra (the sister of Balarama and Krishna) marries a Pandava named Arjuna, and their son Abhimanyu falls in love with Balarama's daughter, Sasirekha. The families decide to marry them when they reach adulthood. By the time Abhimanyu and Sasirekha grow up, the Pandavas have lost a dice game to the Kauravas due to Sakuni's manipulation. Krishna, furious at an action of Dussasana that has insulted Draupadi, saves Draupadi. Balarama teaches the Kauravas a lesson and later reaches Hastinapuram. Sakuni and Duryodhana respect Balarama; after manipulating him, they seek his favour by requesting that Sasirekha be married to Duryodhana's son Lakshmana Kumara. They intend to force Balarama and Krishna to support them if the Pandavas wage war after their fourteen-year exile. Unaware of this, Balarama accepts.

Rakshas King Ravana decides to invade Amaravathi, the capital of the heavenly kingdom of Indra. Scared of Ravana's plans, Indra asks Narada for help. Narada informs Indra that Ravana's strength comes from the worship performed by Kaikasi, Ravana's mother. He then suggests that Indra sabotage Ravana's mother's worship of saikatha lingam, a sand sculpture representation of Lord Siva. Ravana decides to perform penance and bring Lord Siva's Atma Lingam for his mother to worship. Hearing of Ravana's plans from Narada, Goddess Parvathi, Lord Siva's consort, appeals to Lord Vishnu. When Lord Siva appears to Ravana to grant his wish, Lord Vishnu manipulates Ravana's mind and makes him wish for Goddess Parvathi. As Ravana proceeds home with Goddess Parvathi, Narada meets him midway and tells him that his companion is fake Parvathi. Dejected by the subterfuge, Ravana returns Goddess Parvathi to Lord Siva. During his return journey, he meets Mandodari, the young princess of Pathala, and believing her to be the real Goddess Parvathi, marries her. Eventually, he realizes what happened and appeals to Lord Siva for forgiveness by presenting his severed head. Lord Siva presents Ravana with Atma Lingam and warns him that, if the Atma Lingam ever touches the earth, it can never be moved again. Narada instigates Lord Vinayaka to trick Ravana into grounding the Atma Lingam at what later became known as Gokarna Kshethram in Karnataka.

Lord Srirama (Nandamuri Balakrishna) retains his wife Sita (Nayantara) comes back to their kingdom Ayodhya, after killing Ravana. He finally meets his 'Swapna Sundari' (Anjali Devi) who is actually a Deva Kanya. The love is mutual. She leaves her Godly abode to stay with Prabhu. But an evil Mantrik (Mukkamala) finds out that with her help, he can conquer the world and become invincible so he kidnaps her. Prabhu, with the help of the tribal queen vanquishes the evil Mantrik, but the Rani dies. Swapna Sundari and Prabhu live happily ever after.

The plot of the film is based on the concept of Reincarnation and a beautiful love story. Newly married couple Gopinath (Akkineni) and Radha (Savitri) are on Honeymoon and traveling in a boat in River Godavari. Gopinath cries to the boatman to stop the boat as there were dangerous Whirlpools ahead. On reaching the shores, Gopinath takes Radha to an old building. The boatman tells them that it belonged to a Zamindar and takes them to the Samadhis, which reportedly belong to that of one Gopi and Radha. They, then, find an old lady lighting deepam at the Samadhis. Gopinath recognises that she is none other than Gowri from his earlier birth. Gowri too recognised him as Gopi and breaths her last in his hands. The main story is narrated as flashback by Gopinath to Radha.
