En France, ce téléfilm a été édité pour la première fois en 2013 par Showshank Films (au format DVD) en version sous-titrée accompagnée d'un doublage français réalisé pour la première diffusion du téléfilm au Québec. Le titre du téléfilm dans l'édition française a été traduit par Sherlock Holmes et la diva.
Christopher Lee et Patrick MacNee incarnent respectivement Sherlock Holmes et le Docteur Watson, rôles qu'ils avaient chacun déjà tenu séparément dans le film Sherlock Holmes et le Collier de la mort (1962) et le téléfilm Sherlock Holmes à New York (1976). Sherlock Holmes and the Leading Lady est le premier volet d'une série de deux téléfilms mettant en scène ce duo d'acteurs, le second étant Incident at Victoria Falls (1992). Après leur diffusion, les deux films ont d'abord été édités en VHS sous une forme écourtée (en territoire anglophone uniquement), avant de connaître des rééditions intégrales en DVD.
L'intrigue se déroule en 1910, dans un contexte diplomatique européen tendu, alors que Sherlock Holmes a perdu la jeunesse de ses premières enquêtes, mais conserve son dynamisme. L'enquête se concentre sur la recherche d'un détonateur révolutionnaire ainsi que de ses plans, volés par un groupuscule dont les intérêts doivent aussi être démasqués.
Synopsis
Un ingénieur autrichien, le Dr Froelich, met au point un détonateur télécommandé, offrant un important avantage technique à l'État qui le possédera. Froelich offre cette invention à l'ambassadeur du Royaume-Uni, Sir Reginald, mais le prototype ainsi que les plans sont volés par deux inconnus. Un papier tombé d'une poche indique que les bandits vont se rendre à l'opéra le soir même. Froelich s'y rend pour récupérer son invention, rencontre l'un des voleurs, mais leur confrontation se termine par la chute fatale de l'ingénieur depuis les coulisses techniques en hauteur.Actors

Three trustees of the Van Traylen fund have died during the last months, their deaths resembling suicides. But after a mysterious bus accident involving the final three trustees and 30 orphan children, police officer Colonel Bingham (Christopher Lee) starts investigating and notices discrepancies that make him question whether it was an accident. One of the orphans is treated by a psychiatrist, and when that doctor ends up murdered, it becomes obvious that something sinister is going on, and not just coincidental deaths. The dead psychiatrist's supervisor, Sir Mark Ashley (Peter Cushing), agrees to help the police with the hopes of finding the truth behind the mysterious happenings.

In 17th-century Hungary, recently widowed Countess Elisabeth Nádasdy discovers that her youthful appearance and libido can be temporarily restored if she bathes in the blood of young women. She enlists her steward and lover, Captain Dobi, to help with the kidnap and murder of several local girls, whilst having another sexual affair with young Lt. Imre Toth. As a cover for her crimes while in her rejuvenated state, she takes the identity of her own daughter; but castle historian Fabio grows suspicious. Eventually she kills a prostitute called Ziza and it doesn't help, Dobi finds Fabio who has a chapter about blood sacrifices and tells Elisabeth the truth in return for being allowed to live, he says only a virgin sacrifice will work. She then kills more virgins. Fabio tries to tell Toth the truth about his lover, but Dobi kills him before he can. He then shows Toth Elisabeth to jade him away from her. Elisabeth forces Toth into marrying her but her daughter Ilona arrives home, Elisabeth grows old again and tries to kill her daughter but kills Toth instead. Elisabeth, Dobi, and her maid are sentenced to death for their crimes and are last seen awaiting the hangman in their cell. In the last scene a peasant curses her as "devil woman" and "Countess Dracula".

Jerilee Randall (Pia Zadora) is an innocent schoolgirl living in the San Fernando Valley area of California with dreams of becoming a famous screenwriter. Lucy (Collins) is working as a dancer in a sleazy strip joint. Her stage act includes a routine with a dwarf named Hercules (George Claydon). One night after the show, she invites Hercules into her dressing-room for a drink. He declines the drink but starts to rub Lucy's neck and shoulders. Lucy feels uncomfortable but tries to pretend nothing is happening, until Hercules makes a sudden lunge for her breasts, causing her to scream out in shock. This alerts the stage manager Tommy (John Steiner), who rushes into the dressing-room and sends Hercules unceremoniously on his way, then proceeds to make love to Lucy. Later as Lucy leaves the club she is confronted by the spurned and humiliated Hercules, who curses her with the words "You will have a baby.
